That reminds me, I must dig out my Skeggy photos :D.

Great Steve, as usual.

Any Venetian kebab ;).

No kebab but the fish market was great

I should have mentioned the food. WOW!!!

Puts ANY Italian restaurant here to shame. Hard to explain but everything had the lighter touch. The Gnocci I had with lobster, much less heavy, the lobster very fresh.

The Raviloli and cream sauce, lighter, tastier.

The Beef Carpachio, WOW!!! I need back there and I need back NOW!!!

Nice pics Steve! Is that graffiti on 'that bridge'? If so, you'd have thought they'd make the effort to clean it off!

I'm sure you already know, but that "famous bridge" is the Rialto. Much more impressive than the even more famous Bridge of Sighs between the Doge's Palace and a prison the name of which escapes me (pun intended!)

Looks like you had fantastic weather, and I'm not at all jealous :D

Blimey, we think we've got problems with flooding......

They have quite major issues when large cruise ships come in and make big waves.

Plus with rising sea levels, who knows who long it will be there for, when you fly in you see its on very flat ground and Islands.

There is a theme here, lots of graffiti all over the place, quite why someone would vandalise in one of the most beautiful places on earth beats me...

There is a great restaurant near Rialto, up from the markets. Brilliant.

The bridge at Academie has this view

But don't think I made the other one...

Something left for next time eh:thumb:

Venice is fabulous, especially exploring in a sea kayak ...

I sailed out of Venice in Jan 2008 in brilliant sunshine on the most enormous ferry ever whilst on my way to Skiathos.

Never been there before but I had 2 days there before the sailing and totally enjoyed the experience.

Fab photos.

I was there last year and loved the place. The Bridge if Sighs is now covered up and has been for a couple of years, rumour has it that it's now beyond repair.

Great pictures. Much better than any I have ever managed to take. We love Venice too but tend to go out of season - november usually.
The graffiti is a big problem in Italy now. Lots in Bologna, Roma and other major cities. Not sure why.

Sean, its a big place, that would be really hard work.

Gondola runs are stupid ££ these days, so perhaps worth the exercise.

I'd reckon a Jet Ski would be ace around there, some of the canals are very narrow.

great fun kayaking in the narrow canals .. nothing quite like pulling up in your kayak for lunch :)

Love Venice. Awesome place.

I know you like seafood from last years tour, plenty of it there Sean, masses of it. And good too, I had lobster and held it down :D

The whole of Venice is sinking as the piles sink into the lagoon.

and I had lots of it too ..

and much else besides ..

kayaking does give you a huge appetite :D

I thought it was the rising sea levels.

How much longer will it last before its quite submerged and no longer inhabitable.

It's both. iirc, They have tried pumping concrete in but the bottom of the lagoon is just to soft to stop the sinking.

As Venetians chuck their "stuff" into the canals, when the level rises they will really be in "stuff" up to their necks.

Is that what you meant when you said the "Piles" are sinking?
