my E320 was going into limp mode at slow speeds so went into the garage. STAR said it was EGR valve so that was changed. When I got it back it ran strange at slow speeds when holding the revs at about 1500 (the engine was pulsing or hunting until you accelerated). Still went into limp so it went back and had the valve changed again. No difference.
The. They diagnosed the turbo actuator and replaced that.
Now the car doesn’t go limp but the weird pulsing/hunting is still there. It only happens under a bit of load (never in neutral for example). It also didn’t do it in limp mode.
Could the garage have left a pipe lose or not fitted the egr quite right ? The engine was super smooth before it went in.

Try cleaning the maf sensor
Where is the MAF on the V6? Also any advice on a cleaner to use? Remember doing an Audi I had years ago but can’t remember what the spray was called.

Never owned a V6 diesel , but if you follow air intake ducting you should find it.
A can of electrical contact cleaner from Halfords will do

Turns out it is in the bat wing (and there’s two) and the sensors are not replaceable. Cost of a new bat wing is £400ish.
Can’t easily get to them to clean either by the looks of it.
