My Kenwood Headunit has packed up AGAIN....

...so I am open to ideas for a replacement - which I need FAST - no music drives me crazy!!

It must be DIN size, must play MP3 from CD's and must have on-board amp (so no ultra high end Alpines).

Suggestions (budget variable!).

when i replaced my kenwood with my blaupunkt i was chuffed with the increase in SQ - try www.my-blaupunkt.co.uk - they are in maidenhead... lots of options / prices.

Sony CDX-3300

I've had one for 3 months, plays MP3s and CDs. I paid £110 for it because I got it with my sub and amp, but you can get it for £85 incl. VAT from here:

I have an Alpine unit in mine, 3rd one I have had and have been very happy. Dont know the model but it was £199

Very happy with my Blaupunkt Seattle MP74, which looks good and plays MP3.

If you are willing to buy it online, why not look for one in Germany? I bought from these guys, http://www.caraudio24.de/autoradios/cd/seattle-mp74.htm and don't think you will find it cheaper in the UK?

I have traded my faulty Kenwood in.

I got one of these Kenwood KDCPSW9527

only kept it for an hour though.

The right choice. When spending proper money, the only brand I would touch is Alpine. They combine quality, power, aesthetics and high specification into a decent value unit at any level.

Well done! I got my first paycheck today, might just have to take a close look....

The best made car audio equipment you can buy is ALPINE imo.

Ive been repairing car audio equipment for years and the brand that I have seen the least of is ALPINE.

Other than in my car that is

My Alpine MP3 player has been in my last 3 cars and is still going strong.
The sound quality beats most other brands too

It's in. Sound quality and generally it is in a different class to the Kenwood.

The menu's are intuative although I must admit to scratching my head and thumbing throught the manual with some of the advanced features.

It's also nice to have a unit that I can set to whichever shade of Amber (or any colour) I like to match the other illumination in the car.
