My ML is Sick

Car
ML 270CDi Silver with Cream Leather.
Had the ML recovered yesterday with no drive when in D.
As my car is looked after by a very good indi (much better than any main delare near me) I have rescue cover with Rescuemycar.com £35.00 subscription for a year. my wife phoned the nice lady to tell her what had happened and that she needed the car to be recovered. I arrived on site before the recovery guy, tried the car and it moved ok but I was not happy to drive it to the indi about 8 miles away so when the recovery truck arrived I told him this expecting him to say that I caould drive it there but no he popped it on the back of the truck and took it to the indi for me.
The car is with them now and it drives ok but the star machine is showing transmission sllipping, they will not know what it is until they have a look at it next week. In the meantime I have a C180 elegance auto to use.

I thought I would post this as in my view the rescue package I have for £35 is good value for money and I got everything that I would with Mobil except they took it to where I wanted the car to go and not to a MB dealer.

I will let you know what they find wrong.

maybe not, the guy at the indi who is hot with Mercs said that it could be a sticking valve, or a blown seal in the box the seal problem will be a strip down job but no mention as a new box beeing required yet.
He will not be able to look at it until Monday so will have to wait and see.

Sorry, I did not mean new box. A strip down and re-frub is likely.

Hi mate £35 pound is a deal.

Up to how many miles are you covered to?

I have RAC with my bank as a package that has a whole load of other advantages with it.

Sounds like your gearbox is slipping.

Is your ML a diesel or petrol

Sounds a good deal we have a set up with the bank and it covers me in any car plus with our caravan and in Europe.

Works out much cheaper than AA or similar if I go direct to them and we also get a lot of other deals such as extra warranty's etc.

Rescue my car.com is a site where the package is tailored to what you need hence the price can change depending on what you want. I just wanted UK recovery to a destination of my choice, I don't need a replacement car as I can get that from my indi just peace of mind that should the worse happen then I will not be stranded.

The car is an ML270CDi 2002 with 91000 on the clock (not even run in yet).
Ian at the garage did say that the gearbox was very good and they have only had one other car with this problem, that was a blown seal.
I had the fluid and filter change at 60000 miles so it looks as if its just one of them things that can go bump in the night.

I will post more when I know whats wrong.
