How come you went with the black wheels? Thought you only liked sliver (as do I )

Damn... a famous You Tuber on the forums.

I have watched many of your videos, welcome to Mercedes :)

There actually weren't great choices, if you wanted the lightweight wheels then this was the only finish option for them. They will be repainted full black immediately this week, I'm not keeping them like this at all.

Was really surprised to see that you had posted here! Watched the PPF video looks amazing, have you thought about tracking it anywhere yet?

Is the GT R a limited production vehicle (like the SLS)? Or are there no plans to limit the numbers?

It's not limited to a specific number per say but it does seem to be built in some sort of limited numbers because if you walk in to order one now it won't come before 2019, and I believe they are talking about just making them for two years or so.

Like others- welcome!
I’ve been watching your exploits courtesy of Raz....very very cool!

I didn't realise the SLS was a limited run? Were they numbered as well?
I thought it was just produced in low numbers like the AMG GTR will be?

You could be right, certain models were limited production (Black, GT3 etc) but I think the SLS was time limited rather than number limited.

Maybe the GTR is limited but the rest of the model line up probably isn't. I can't find anything Firm about it at all. I wonder if MB are trying to engineer a supply situation like Porsche do with their GT cars.

The SLS wasn't limited at all, anybody could walk in and order one and the prices of a lightly used car plummeted as there was no demand.

I was behind a green one heading north through the Dartford Crossing a few weeks ago. It is wide, very wide but has a stonking presence on the road and in the flesh. I suspect this one was from the AMG dealers at Bluewater?
Brooklands which would be Mercedes Ben Word im assuming.

Lakeside Mercedes has an AMG performance centre I think. Bluewater doesn't really have a dealership, dartford does but that's pretty ordinary. Brooklands is the other side of london so doubt it was their car.

I was behind it on the 1st exit slip after the tunnel heading North, having followed him through the tunnel. He absolutely ruined my intended smug ass, windows down, 2nd gear, run through the tunnel in my C55.

There are a few now out to customers, and I'd assume a strong percentage are ordered in Green Hell Magno.

Mine sits now at around 300 miles but by the end of the week will have the wheels in full black and no longer with that pesky silver rim that I just can't get on with.

I like the silver wheel rim, it's a detail that picks out the diameter of the wheel and works nicely with the chrome trim around the rear light cluster.

Fully black wheels lose definition, shape and size and just merge into the arches.

I'm sure they only do it because a lot of people like it, but it's just not for me at all and it makes the wheels look so small as a result. I'm not the biggest fan of black wheels either normally but I don't want them to be silver on an otherwise black car.

It's most likely I'll darken all the chrome parts eventually when time allows.
