My New AMG GT R is Here!

Love the GTR, saw this tasty green one being driven at a Porsche meet in East Kilbride by a very attractive lady.

There is no such thing as a 'tasty green car'. There is hideous green, puke green, slime green and just about any shade of green you can think of.

Cars should not be green. Period.:D

I disagree for that particular car :) actually any supercar looks amazing in green. They are meant to be flashy

Time for an update!

In 3 short months (including at least 5-6 weeks of that away), my GT R is now reading 5,300 miles on the clock - this is certainly no garage queen.

First up I put on some Sottozero winter tyres and changed the wheels to make them full black, I've never been a fan of that silver AMG rim:

Then a stop at the MB Museum in Stuttgart, Germany:

And the first of many trips here:

Then it got the de-chrome treatment for the front grille, door handles and the surrounds on the rear lights:

Then somewhere near Megeve in the French Alps:

Interesting location outside Geneva, Switzerland:

Munich, Germany:

Then it's been a lot of fun being stuck and dragged out (multiple times) by my friend's G63 AMG 6x6 in Cortina, Italy...

I think I've done more snow miles than clear ones so far, but if this is the mileage over winter then I'd expect it's not about to stop here. The car is so incredible usable in all situations; whether it's blasting down the Autobahns (I've not being doing much over 250km/h yet due to winter tyres but the Sport Cup 2s will go on for Easter), lugging my ski gear and skis around in the boot (being careful to avoid taking out the passenger's head), or just doing the shopping run.

Onwards!

Like the 6x6 BUT Mr JWW and the Landulet shots in the Nordics were awesome.

I rather enjoyed taking it on Safari...

Sottozero II, MO stamp, 275/35R19 for front, 325/30R20 for rear

Initially I was amazed they even make winters at that size, but they've done the job perfectly. Obviously one has to remember that a car as low as this still runs the risk of being 'beached', even if the tyres are working there's not enough ground clearance to have them down on the ground.

Are you planning on spending many days at the 'ring in the summer? - Im planning on heading over again - might even stay at Apex if they have any rooms free :D

Yes, many days actually. The Ring is only a 1.5 hour drive from my home in Germany so it's super easy to get there.

Something quite funny is that I currently own 5 cars and every one of them is equipped with a wing on the back and bucket seats... It gave me the crazy idea to do a trip to the Ring for Car Freitag opening weekend at Easter so I'm coming to London and with a group of friends we'll take over my AMG GTR, 675LT Spider, Vantage GT8 and new 911 GT3 for a drive via Paris, Reims, Luxembourg and then to the track.

You sucking up to him again Karl? :p

Whats that supposed to mean? - Yes I got in contact with Tim as I thought his GTR story would be interesting for the forum.

I aborted the journey last year due to the crowds which were reported around the 'Ring on good Friday. This was at 8am:

Just a lil bit of fun Karl Hence the emoj.

Lighten up matey.

If you turn up from the other side at lunchtime it's fine; I've been both of the last 2 years and driven straight in without too much trouble.

“saw“ a green AMG GT of some sort last night at 9pmish on the M4 westbound , just before the M25 junction . I say saw but initially, I heard the pops and crackles from around 50 yards away ! it was being driven in sport plus or race. it may have had a retractable rear spoiler too.

It was a bit of an aural feast. If the owner / driver is on this forum, then Thumbs Up !
