Hi All,
Its about time I posted some photos up of the new beast..
I took the plunge and went for a V8 bruiser in the form of an SL 500 (R230).
Gorgeous drive but a tad thirsty !!
I went for quite a decent spin in her today and without driving like I am 90 years old (Nor being a T*T) I averaged 31.2 over a distance of 110 miles. This was a mixture of motorway and A road (with some B road)..
Errr going to work and back is ahem, ahem significantly worse !!
Any way photos below:

Beautiful car!! I'm jealous as hell! :)

Has that smile come off either of your faces yet??? :D

I love that exterior colour. Nice buy.

Hi bpsorrel,
I have to admit the muted howl she makes is very addictive.
The first thing you notice when you get up close to one of these cars is that they are bigger in the flesh than you might imagine..
Its half an inch longer than my C270 (203) and a foot wider !!!!!
If I could wave a wand I would make rear parking sensors apear on her.
I actually had them retro fitted on my C class at the main dealership..One day.. At the minute I need to severly draw my horns (and wallet) in cos I have over spent money I didnt have !
Oh well... You live but once !

I love that exterior colour. Nice buy.

Thank you for that Honey Bear,
I definately didnt want silver grey cos they seem to be all over the place.. Not just Mercs, every other car seems silver grey.
Secondly I didnt want all black interior either.. I love paler colours in winter when the weather is dark and depressing.

lovely, must be so nice to drive - let me know the mpg around town just so i can get adjusted as i've got one of these on my list!

Very gorgeous... but -

- Where do your kids sit then... ? :) That's why I bought a CL... ! Nice one.

It looks absolutely stunning!

Thank you for that Jazz.
Do you ever go to the GTG's in Scotland ?
I go to quite a few of them and meet up with the likes of Druk, LTD, *** and many others.
If you can manage to go then I may well see you sometime.
There is a Loch Venachar one on the 11th but unfortunately I have arranged to go to the Cornwall meetup (on the other forum)..
If you go then you MUST have the Cullen Skink... Its truly heavenly !

Is that cubanite silver ?

I face traffic jams to work and its stop start traffic so the car doesnt get more than maybe third gear..
I have an 11 mile trip to work. The car warms up very fast indeed thank god..
Are you sitting down?
It gets typically 17 - 19mpg.
I had to nip into work on Sunday briefly and the roads were much, much quieter and then the figure was 24 mpg.
Motorway runs sticking to 75mph is 29 -31mpg.
With a full tank and on the motorway the computer gives a range of 535 miles.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the kind offer.

I would love to attend some GTG's, however I can never find the time to be able to attend, due to being stuck at work for most of the time. :(

Very, very nice Simon. The brightness of the inside will be a real spirit lifter in the winter. Infect the whole car is a spirit lifter.
Well done buddy.
