Car
w124 230e manual white amg kit+ Yreg W210 E320 Tekiti Grey 7seater hadGina w124 E200te blue 7seater
i just bought this eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace and on the way home when hitting the kick down she went into safe mode with the EPC warning on the display :S

After switching off and restarting she was fine but twice this happend again!!!

I took her to my local garage and he pluged her in wiped the codes and tried again but still safe mode! then a retest where she came up with the p1187 error code! apon looking up what that was the list was low fuel?,high pressure fuel pump, injectors, wiring, fuel rail sensor, low fuel pressure and 1 or 2 silly 1,s that i cant remember!

My question is : is this a common fault on a w210 or am i just unlucky?

i have spoke to the guy and he said he would have a look but didnt sound like he was to keen if you know what i mean! he sold it to me out of ebay and not out of his saab garage but did give me a reciept (which i left on his desk:doh::doh::doh:) saying his saab garage name.

so this is the situation i am in, any help or advise would be great?:o

cheers chris

Nice, Tektite grey and rust...just like mine.

As for the fault...could be so many things, you need some one who can diagnose the STAR readings.

well i droped her off yesterday and picked up the reseat and now im just waighting for them to phone me so will keep you guys updated :D

The method of sale - e.g. eBay - should not make much difference. If he is a trader, and did not sell the car to you in private capacity, then you should be covered (though it is not always easy with some of the smaller traders).

At any rate, it could be something simple to fix.

I bought one too. I think I published a link or sent you a PM of this one. Once its been on the ramps at Mr Walkers I'll let you know how bad it is.
Pleased thus far with the engine and gearbox and its towing ability.

I bought it on Friday night, bombed over the see the boys on the Yorkshire Yomp on Saturday morning but had to hi-tale it back home. Did a bit of towing today and still getting used to everything. Loving the turbo. Miss the comfort of the drivers seat in my 124 Estate. Also it lacks "pour je ne sais quei" of the 124.

Good Luck getting yours sorted Chris.

TJ I suspect that it is simply a case of not 'settling in' to the new car. I never think my new car is as comfy as the previous one 'till I've had it for a while and covered some miles.

Good to see you at the Yorkshire Yomp too :thumb:

my mate has one of these for £1,000 ish

silver, 320 derzel, full black leather & toys, 186k, he was going to scrap it as he bought a new merc and they offered him £300 for it

had the phonecall today he's changed the fuel filter and air filter pluss more fuel and now shes ready to pic up tomorrow yey lol

ok so went to pic her up this morning and well she wouldnt start:doh::doh::doh: she was bringing up the epc warning!
so we poped the bonnet checked everything under the covers giving all the plugs and conections a wiggle when i spotted the airflow sensor had 1 of the 4 wires fraid so we taped her up and she started first time :D so if this pops up for any of you check the airflow sensor and wires hope this thread has helped :D

cheers chris:thumb:

A lot of niggles on MB of this age are electrical connections. Which are cheap.

Strangely most of them are soldered (with lead-free) rather than crimped, so it helps if you can wield a smouldering iron.
Repair should be done with tin/lead electrical solder, this is legit, but you need a high-temperature bit to flow the lead-free rubbish that is the cause of the problem. If it ain't bust don't fix it, or if it ain't bust fix it until it is.

Worth checking all the ground points (brown wires on eyelets to bolts), I found powdery corrosion there on mine. Brush off and re-tighten.

OK so this morning she wouldnt start with the said epc code coming up:doh: and after a few wiggles of the wire she started took her round to my garage for easy axcess so on tyding the wires i found that the injectors were sitting in diesel and she wouldnt start again so i got some injector seals and on fitting i pulled the threads on the rear 3 on removel of the clamp bolts:doh::doh::doh: and have lost 1 of the clamps:confused::confused::confused:

so my new car is now the bigest pain in the ass i have ever had:wallbash:

right i have got her booked in at hamlins engineering in bridgwater who come highly recommended and apparently have seen "the black death" hundreds of times before so promising :D but in order for me to get the car there, i have to tow her so i've disconected the prop at the dif and left in situ as not enough room to tie up anywhere but unfortunatly she now wont come out of parked or attempt to turn over ??? should this be expected or is this another problem???? lol

gor blimey

you are not having any luck are you?

Sorry I can't help

Is the battery flat?
That will stop it turning over and lock the selector in park unless you poke the release solenoid with a pen, or similar.

Why do you need to get it out of park if the propshaft is disconnected or start the engine for that matter??

Martin

May be the engine needs to be running for the brakes ?

You shouldn't need them if it is on a bar, they will still work without the engine running as long as they are not air, you just need to go a bit steadier.
