I started a thread last week when i bought this on ebay

1998 MERCEDES C250 SPORT TD BLUE ESTATE on eBay (end time 13-Jun-09 22:36:03 BST)

Picked it up on friday, drove it 200 mils home on about £18 of diesel

Really impressed with it i have listed the problems i need to sort

1, Lights on dash, going in tomorrow

2, alloys are corroded

3, probably needs a good service (losts of history serviced once a year)

4, Stereo was wired incorrectly (stayed on) i have sorted this and fitted a bluetooth kit that i had lying around

5, throttle is a bit heavy

apart from that i am over the moon

can anyone give me any details on the C250? i think they are good what do you think

Oh dear! Just been to View the car at Robin Lamb

Urgent things that need doing

1, Offside front ABS sensor

2, The ring on the Offside rear driveshaft is damaged/corroded and needs replacing may need the whole driveshaft!

3, 2 new rear brake hoses.

1 & 3 are expected but 2 is a big one, where can i get one from cheep!

Things that need doing shortly

1, Hole in rear silencer pipe

2, Some of the underseal is peeling and will need cleaning up and redoing

3, the front exhaust pipe has been welded at some point but seems ok

Could do with some advice on the Driveshaft and unside protection please

thanks

Just a thought (wihout seeing the damage) - does 2 really need doing - difficult to tell until 1 has been done (or have the ABS codes been read). Driveshaft from a breakers shouldn't be too much.

202 Throttle Pedals always feel heavy - you get used to it (might need some grease/oil in the right places of course).

Underside protection - always have a can of Waxoyl handy when working on the car (or just looking), there's always something that you can brush off and spary.

Thanks for that!

Bought a drive shaft for £20 + P&P (hope its ok)

Yes the read the codes and i have seen the damage myself when i called in.

We had one of the early 202's and cant remember it being that heavy but i will have a look and grease it over the weekend. The problem is when i got in the Range Rover today I have been accidently flooring it at the lights as the pedel in that is a lot lighter!

Been looing for an exhaust and have found the rear section for around £70+vat which i thought was good.

I think early petrol 202s were direct throttle and later ones fly by wire. If the diesel's use the same sensor for fly by wire it has two very chunky return springs.

Well I have tonight got the car back and it is going in for the brakes and driveshaft when the driveshaft arrives.

The stereo was wired wrong and was perminantly connected so i have sorted that out and fitted a parot bluetooth kit (had one for a citroen that fitted) and its spot on.

Anyone suggest where i can get an exhaust from?

thanks
