Just bought myself a new car, to be used as my luxury motorway barge!
1995(M) Jaguar XJ6 3.2 Sport. Black with oatmeal leather and XJR alloys! 76,000 miles with history. :D Absolute bargain (I hope!)

a lovely shape ..

how much was the bargain .. I have a mate who loves these cars

Hello

Nice looking car, I was supprised even how much the latest shape ones are. A lot of car for the money.

As you say I hope it works out, how much will that do to the gallon though? 25?

Smart looking car however

I agree, great values cars.
I mate has had a Daimler 4.0 and now has a 1998 Jag XJR he bought for £4k I think. He's had it LPG converted to help with the 20-25mpg costs.

Lovely shape - my dad always used to have them as company cars. My fave was a 4.2 Daimler Sovereign with pepperpot alloys and two petrol tanks :)

Is yours one of the aluminium bodied ones?

And how much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking? PM if you like.

Sweet, looks nice. My friend had the XJ8, he loved every minute of ownership, lovely car to travel in, if a little cramped in the rear, but hey - you drive sat in the right place :)

Thanks all, I have paid £2000. Decided on the X300 straight 6 (94-97) XJs as they have the reputation as being one of the most reliable. I will be using it mostly for long journeys and am hoping to get a 'reasonable' 28-32 mpg if I behave with my right foot. That is the sort of figure quoted on some of the entusiast sites. I figure that it is relatively depreciation proof at that sort of price.

It is booked into my local Jag indie specialist on monday (Preston Jaguar Centre) for a major service so that I can baseline the future service requirements. I am hoping taht it will be a reliable, luxurious, painless owning experience!

Nice car - well done!

Wasn't there a top gear episode and the front an rear bumpers are 2K...

Like you say as long as it runs ok, change the oils its losing nothing. Great stuff

Nice buy.

I find myself considering Jags from time to time.

I love XJs too - I'm one of the few that will mourn that classic profile when the replacement comes out.

My father in law had a brand new light blue Soverign in 1989 - a beautiful car.

Beautiful cars! My fav has always been the Mk2..

That said the only car I've ever felt motion sickness is a 420G

Me too, I've got a soft spot for Jags too. My dad had a 1990 XJ40 Sovereign too in 1990. Had it for about 4/5 years until he moved into Mercs. Had some fantastic times with that car. Luckily I was insured on it when I passed my test took it into School a couple of times :D Also took that car to my Uni graduation ball - great times...

He had a new XJ8 on loan recently (facelift with the big bumpers & 19" alloys), stunning looking car but not enough to tempt him back (yet, I think...)

Despite the Merc/Honda bias in my life i still have a soft spot for Jags

My dad is on his 3rd V12 - a late 1989 Series 3 that I found at auction by accident 7 years ago! I was looking for an Astra estate and spotted a mint diplomat owned Cranberry V12 - which went for the paltry sum of about £1000 after all charges. When I picked up the paperwork it was nearly 3" thick with history(very rare for a BCA auction) and most of the bills were from Marrakesh!

I dropped it at his house as a surprise present from my mum and myelf - and he recognised the car immediately as he was working at the Foreign Office at the time :)

So I have a 1959 Mk1 2.4 & Dad has a 1989 XJ12 :)

Sounds like a really nice car - interesting history too, amazing that he recognised it too.

Very pretty car and great colour combo. I like it
