Thanks to Mactech who tipped me off about the wheels on eBay, just bagged myself a set of 20" alloys that were being sold off by a MB Dealer on eBay - they are brand new and boxed and literally came off the shelf in the parts department of the dealer when I went to collect them.

The explanation was that when stock becomes 2 or more years old, it gets written off in their books and so they then sell stock off for what they can get - happy days!

I even have a full MB dealer invoice for them as well.

Just got to get the tyres now...

Tyres are as much a personal choice as the car you drive, and can make a huge difference to the way it feels and performs.
I can only say what I have found with the Toyo Proxes ST 265/45/20 tyres which I have put on the same wheels on my Airmatic equipped ML.
The ride, grip, comfort and traction are all first rate and much better than the OE Bridgestones on the 19” wheels. They are also really quiet and after 7000 miles the minimum tread depth on any of the tyres is 7.9mm! I can understand why they are OEM on Touareg and X5.
Camskills had a price of £134 each on the website, but a phone call to Rochford Tyres (That’s just norff of the riva!:o) saw them supplied, fitted and balanced for the same price.
But don’t let me sway you, get the tyres you want!
Just wish I’d got my wheels at such a cracking price!;)

Great Deal what is the ebay MB user, as I am looking for a set of C63 alloys.
Cheers...

Every dealer ended up with a set of those wheels, along with aerodynamic kits and rear dvd player kits...

I was at a parts dept a week or so ago, and they showed me the £6Ks worth of new E-Class accessories they have had to buy, most of it will never be sold.

Excellent buy, and good looking wheels!!

For others, do try your parts department for old stock. I got similar discounts on two original AMG lip spoilers for the W203, and an MB child seat - I just asked for a price, asked for the best price, and then asked when it would be old stock 'to clear;.

I noted it on my Calendar and bagged some bargains!!

After much research and advice have finally done a deal for 4x Continental Sport Contact2 tyres, fitted for £790, which I think is pretty good when I have been quioed from £862 to £1200+

I know there are many other cheaper brands, but I just love the tread on the Continentals and they are what I have now on my 18" wheels.

Even more surprisingly, it is Kwik Fit who are supplying and fitting them.

It's nice to hear you are very much happy with your tires. How much it cost with those tyres?

They're on and looking good! See the album for a couple of quick iPhone photos

Wheels - £225 new
Tyres - Continental Sport Contact2 265/45/20 - £790 fitted
Total - £1,015

There now, that looks better!:D
Let us now how they drive and ride when you've done some miles!:thumb:

Hello

Thay look much better, I know the R class is long (assuming LWB) but is that the smallest bay in the world you are parked in, or a smart car bay.

The wheels looks just right for the car.

Wish I had seen them for my ML... I missed a set go for silly money on Pistonheads, think exactly the same..

Now, if any dealer has a new old stock set of staggered 18" Difda's for my S500 at similar money ........................
