Hello all,

I was loopy enough to buy a 260e (1989) Auto on ebay. The car is in good nick apart from a few quirks. (Passanger side e/w wont work. central locking unlocks but will not lock. Also the econometer does not work....)

I drove her from Preston to Northampton. Great fun but disaster struck a week later...

The offside drive shaft bust !

Any one got some spares ?

The rest of the car seems good and it has 12 months MOT. Must be worth the repair !

Anyone with spares or advice on the faults above?

It looks like I bought a summer project :) :) :)

I am breaking a 124 estate (E reg) The drive shafts will be the same I think. Pm me if interested.

Drive shafts is a common problem on older W124.

The central locking will be one of the vacuum actuators in the doors, the diaphragm will have split. To locate which one disconnect and plug the lines leading to the doors and try the locking. When you have found the faulty one the others will work.

Ian, Thanks for the offer but a relative just picked one up from an autobreakers... I now know where to come for other parts :)

As soon as I get the car back I will look at the central locking... Cheers for all your help ! (Great Forum and Great Friendly People)

I will keep you all posted on my "project"........
