My SL55 project / conversion.

Things have still been busy over the last couple of weeks and I have started on the next phase even though there is still some work to be finished off on the bodywork, but this will be done later.
The interior is now being stripped out and work on the interior conversion is on it's way. This is scary but should be worth the effort in the end.

Seats being totally stripped down in preparation for the conversion.
Dashboard is out and head unit fascia made to fit. Lots of work still to do on this but by doing our own we aim to get more of a factory finish look.

Like it!

I couldn't bring myself to rip the dash out. It's so squeak free at the moment!

I must admit I full understand your concern. My car had no squeaks or rattles before I started this project and was one of the many conditions that was in the project brief to both the bodyshop and the trimmers. Let's wait and see.
That said the only way this can be done properly is to strip it all out as everything is being re done in Nappa leather.
I'm not a fan of grainy leather so I wanted a nice smooth non shiny leather.

Fantastic build thread. In fact I only really joined up so I could post on this thread and say what a great job you are doing:thumb:

Keep the pics coming!

Thanks trojanhorse, really appreciate your comments.
Lots of work in progress on the interior so not much to report for a few days but I will keep posting to the end of the build.
Glad you like it.

Quick update. Carpet now removed and will be cleaned and dyed black.
Audio system installation now being done with new amplifiers, etc. in new boot enclosure. Some more interior bits that have been done.

see it in the flesh.

Full credit to you mate. No expense spared. Quality and attention to detail is superb. This will be an SL to behold ! If you are gonna show it, keep us posted as to when and where, I would love to see it in the flesh.

Love what you've done with the interior, not digging the AMG badge on the steering wheel though.

I'll keep an eye (and ear!) out round town for it, you've certainly got the best engine and I'd recognise the sound with my eyes shut!

Update. Dashboard has now been totally stripped down. This has now been re foamed and the new foam routered with the appropriate channels ready for trimming.
Steering wheel now fully trimmer.
Seat cover bottoms done in readiness for when the new seats are ready.
Today we also started prepping all the parts that are going to be carbon fibre dipped. Carpets now dyed and ready for refitting. Audio system work can now continue as we have received the correct steering wheel control module and wiring kit. Reckon we have a least another two solid weeks on the interior.
Doors have been stripped down ready for sound deadening material and than we can start on the rest of the work.

Just love the thought and eye for detail that is being put into this project. Can't wait to see the car when it is finished.
