I was thinking in terms of engine model numbers. M157 = 5.5TT.

Build is still looking fantastic, can't wait to see the end result.
Lovely colour choice for the interior and admire your dedication! Black and beige look great together and give a nice contrast to the exterior.
If I had my interior retrimmed, I'd stick with black (I like the murdered look) but would have quilt pattern on the centres and door cards as per the newer CLs - like the look of them.
Would love to see your SL in the flesh one day, if you do swap the motor for a 5.5TT - sweet!!!! Although, a Weistec blower is an addictive noise.

You have done and amazing job on the interior, it looks like it came from the factory like that but was an option that would have cost $$$$s over the standard spec, it looks very high class.
Regarding your radio, I assume you have ripped out the speakers, amp etc too however, on the instrument cluster what options are you left with without COMAND.
I understand radio/nav/phone screens probably disappear however, is the rest of the menu system fully functional? Asking as I am looking to do something similar later this year.

This was a full new system. Amps, crossovers in the boot, sub was fitted in a compartment that we made in the footwear and than it was finished in a way for the carpet to go over it to keep that stealth look. Component speakers in the doors and next to the windows.
I got the correct steering wheel control module, eventually, I got it to talk to the CAN BUS system, led lights will confirm communication, but now got to take it so a merc specialist to put it on the Star system and tell it to ignore the Command system and communicate Directly.

Normally you can keep all the info on the dash and steering wheel controls, it is just down to coding to get it to work.
The interior looks stunning by the way, the only thing I would have done would be piano black on the trim, I am not sure of the slightly grey looking carbon with the fantastic black paintwork of the car.
How did you get on with the wheels?
