Firstly after arriving in Pooley Bridge on Ullswater it was decided it was beer and BBQ day. I took a few shots of the lake around the campsite and ate and drank through the day till dark.

You can see it’s a rather splendid view

The next day we decided was driving day. After a quick run to Carlisle to get food, it was over to Ambleside in the “shed” down the road to Glenridding and over the Kirkstone. We then returned by “the struggle” and back down the Kirkstone. The shed coped admirably well and was even overtaking slow traffic on the short straight sections. 500NM of torque goes a long way.

After the run in the shed my friend wanted to demonstrated his remapped Golf GTi. Boy does this now move with 275ftt/lb torque and 240bhp its now a lot livelier.

A quick run up the Hardknott and views from the top

After this some well earned grub was earned, at the Queens Head near Kirkstone, well recommended BTW, yes the empty plate is mine

Then it was back to the campsite

Next Day, a 15 mile treck from Pooley Bridge to the other end of the Lake, at Glenridding.

The night before

The days walk took us down the other side of the lake to that of the main road.

We happened across the Sharrow Bay, a very classy joint is an understatement,

Here is the Gatehouse to keep plebs like us away!!!

We also went out in one of his 124’s, the estate. 300TD. Very smooth once underway and the magic carpet ride. Its in a different league to mine, so smooth and the road seems so calm after mine. We stopped at a Canal for some shots

It looks like you had a lovely time. Nice photos as well-Well done:)

It was a brilliant trip, fab weather, roads good, the food, drink, even the treck, was so muich fun and good to get away from it all for a few days.

Great pictures! Love the Lake District, especially Ulswater.

By the way Steve, why do you call your excellent car the "Shed"?

Because its been the most unreliable car I've had, and its got rust beginning on the doors. Plus I treat it like a skip, but its a much loved skip.

If you've never been to the lakes, it really is a must. Ullswater is my favoutite of the lakes, very calm

Great to see you Steve, thanks for dropping by.
My pleasure mate, managed 43mpg on the way back which was none to shabby as its mainly uphill on the way back, Deserted roads and 3hrs30mins, not at all long in the E class :D:D
