    Sounds good jay.

Is it only cosmetic stuff to do?

    How's the engine and gearbox?

Engine & Box are great, there is a long list of things I will do though:

    - Recaro Front Seats
    - Correct Aero 1 Wheels
    - AMG Exhaust
    - Something on self levelling suspension making a noise so going over the whole lot
    - Rear Diff Refurb
    - Full go over of the car changing every fluid and filter + waxoyl
    - New AMG Front Fog Lamps
    - AMG Steering Wheel
    - Convert to 7 Seater
    - Becker Stereo System
    - Probably a load of other stuff ive forgotten!

The condition of the wings you're replacing look in better condition than the ones currently on mine! Look forward to the updates Jay.

    Great thread. Thank you.

    I have just bought a 300te 4Matic 7 seater.

Mechanically solid with everything working well. Drives superbly.

It needs bodywork. New bonnet bought today.

Worst problem I have is a rust hole in the rear O/S wing under the window. Not sure if that is repairable or needs replacing.

It certainly rides smoother than my C55 estate.

    Keep the threads coming.

Jay, are you going to do anything with the interior?

All my research has led me to believe that most of the road noise in a W124 comes from the doors, front floor pans and transmission tunnel. Treating the front doors makes a big difference, and additional floor mats help too

If you remove the centre console & carpet you could treat the transmission tunnel and some of the the front firewall. I've never done this but think it would make a real difference. The gearbox can be a real source of noise

Noise from the rear depends a lot on tyre size & type

You would be surprised how much a good dose of rust preventative dampens body noise.

Thanks... Yes one of the final things I will do is waxoyl the whole car as I do with all my cars...

On the drive back the road noise was pretty good... the diff whine under load may have taken my attention from it though!

Side skirts removed yesterday and there are a couple of rust patches at the bottom of the rear arches, these will be cut out and welded...

Gonna be a large bill :(

Just to echo this, in fitting new speakers, Nick has put 3, possibly 4 if my fuzzy head is correct, layers of soundproofing into the front doors of my W124. The benefit in sound insulation is tremendous.

A bit more done over the last couple of days... Waiting for the welder to get onto it now before the shell can go into primer.

The nearside wheel arch section will need to be replaced as it has been repaired before... and not very well!
