My W124 project £750 ( CE 220 )

That looks terrific. I think it needs a pair of smoked rather than orange side repeaters though.

All of a sudden the smoked repeaters seem hard to get. I'm after some for my 124. If any one has any info on a supply I would appreciate the heads up.

Yeh - its a superb car to drive and im really pleased with the result. At the moment its sitting in my garage and will only be used on sunny days. Going to use it throughout September then it will be locked away for winter. You wont be seeing this W124 out on a damp winters day !!

As for the indicators - i want to keep the car as original as possible so standard items were a must.

Looks lovely, I've carried out similar work on my W140, so I know how rewarding a little tlc can be :)

Can you tell me where you got those number plates from?

Well done, the car is a credit to you and the reputation of the good old 124 :thumb:
Anybody got a link to scuff master, that interior puts mine to shame :o

Looks fantastic. I've had a couple of CE's in the past - always fancied another, something "timeless" about the design.

This one's a credit to you. Which body/paint shop did you use?

I prepared the car myself and it was painted by a good friend of mine at a his bodyshop. He specializes in Mercedes, BMW and Porsche restoration and repairs.

Not sure, but the beauty of the surround is its hinged, so you can lift it and slot a set of standard plates into the holder in about 30 seconds.

This is amazing. Excuse me, but what is MIG?

Metal Inert Gas welding; electric welding with a gas shield round the arc, usually Argon mix but CO2 also works well.

great thread, really enjoyed reading it.

thanks very much for all the info.

car looks absolutly fantastic.

hope you both get to enjoy some sunshine.

I missed your September 'end' pics, but you should feel satisfied with a job well done. Who'd have thought that was a £750 car? There's something about these old cars I just can't shake. Good job :thumb:

Suddenly after reading all this I feel a little of a cheap fake :0(
Mine gets a single coat of polish every now and then but wow. I think I should give her the full monty now.
That car is a beauty and is a credit to you. I only wish I could show that much dedication in practise rather than just in day dreams lol.
I'll get there one day though!!!!!

Fancy another project????
I can feel a holiday coming on lol :0)
