Bought a silver C220 auto on E-Bay a month ago, got it for £435,because the owner said the head gasket had gone. It turned out it wasnt head trouble, it was radiator level sensor & a nackered water pump, how pleased was i ! I am systematically going through every bit of the car checking for rust & other problems, & im amazed at how solid & strong it still is, more like a 3 year old, & yet i have seen much newer merc's that are rust buckets. Was 1995 a good year for the C class or am i just a lucky boy. Can any members tell me what to look for (trouble-wise) on this car,ie what do they suffer from,? Iv owned about 15 cars in my life, but this is my 1st merc, used to drive merc artics tho ! John.

Hello, sounds like you got a good deal ! :D Good luck with the ongoing project, regards Damian.

I had a 95 202 220. Excellent car. Sold it a few years ago and still see it around.

Woah! dirt cheap. My previous W202 was a 1995 and had less rust than my current 1999 model.

Post up some photos...

Gearbox oil should be changed around 65k? Miles.
Lubricate the wiper mechanism twice a year…see the How-To section.
Lubricate door and boot locks regularly and ensure that the are in working order.

You have a very good car their John and a bargain to boot, enjoy it

make usre the coil packs are good as these can cause engine control unit issues.

You might also want to keep an eye on the boot lock for rust around the keyhole.
