Hi. Hope someone can help me with this bizarre problem.
I have just upgraded my rather tired W202 C200 estate to an 02 C200K Avantgarde estate.
All is good with the car apart from 2 glitches:
1. When i switch on the lights it is displaying 2 malfunctions which are F/L Marker bulb and F/R Marker Bulb. AFAIK the UK spec has no markers as such but i know the US ones have them in the front bumper.

A local mechanic suggested that somehow the ECU may have been accidentally altered to a different countries settings whilst being diagnosed at some point. Is this possible and how do i recify it?

2. The external temp readout is about 15degs too high.

Does my car pine to live in Florida???

Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved as i dont fancy a £60 MB diag bill in the first week of ownership.

Ta, Clarky.

Welcome
Afraid I don't have any answers to the specifics, but would recommend finding a local independent MB specialist who might sort it out cheaply/free. If not, then just live with it until next service due, when hopefully garage will sort it for free.....
Did you buy from dealer- can you take it back to be sorted?

it sounds like someone has set the instrument cluster to North Amaerican settings... needs to go on star im afraid..

Where in the country are you?

Im in Bolsover Derbyshire but work near to Derby.
Noticed the temp read 19deg. this morning which was about right but rose dramitically as the engined warmed. I assume the sensor has come adrift and is somewhere inside the engine bay. Where should i be looking??

its in the lower bumper grille on drivers side.

Brilliant. After much faffing threading an old wire coat hanger and taping it to the sensor hanging in the engine bay its re mounted and reading true. One down, one to go. Thanks again.

Just a quick update on this. The car did indeed think its dash was north american. Onto star and all is now good. Thanks for all the help.
