Does anyone know the service interval for the rear diff oil?

Is this usually done by MB dealers when the autobox is serviced?

I've no record of it being done.
I suspect it’s sealed for life, but I don’t know. There’s no mention of it being looked at during any of the seven services I’ve had, including the one when the gearbox oil was changed.

Hmmm I've found most things "sealed for life" could do with being done before ten years and 100k miles 😂

I will give it a quick change at next oil change then if its never likely to have been done.

I know what you mean. “Sealed for life” could mean “sealed until it dies”!

There is no scheduled diff oil change interval specified by MB. And the diff oil is not regularly replaced either, because the diffs are generally very robust and rarely give grief, unless they leak (usually from the drive shafts).

The 7G+ autobox is due ATF and filter change at 5 years or 77,500 miles, whichever comes first. So on your car it should really have been done in 2017. Replacing the ATF on the 7G+ requires some know-how, so best left to an MB specialist (or dealer, obviously).

Other 'biggies' are spark plug change which is due (from memory) every 4 years or at 40,000 miles.

And don't forget the brake fluid that needs to be replaced every 2 years.

Normally I would have said that if you are looking at ATF change and spark plugs change then the cheapest option is probably taking-out and MB Service Care Plan, but seeing that you have already replaced the filters yourself there may be little point now in having a full dealer service .

The filters that need replacing BTW are the air filter and pollen/cabin filter. The fuel filter on some cars is due every 4 years or 40,000 miles, on others it is due every 15 years or 150,000 miles.

Thanks. I did oil, cabin and air (not scheduled yet but only £10) filters with my oil change. Fuel filter was not needed yet.

Autobox and plugs were done on spec so not needed again yet.

Just wondered about rear diff as it's not listed, I've changed it before on rwd cars like my 350z, but that had a LSD to protect.

I will be doing the autobox service myself, I have all the necessary equipment and knowledge.

My cars get brake fluid every now and then :) I have a full set of discs and pads to go on as the old ones are almost done, will do fluid then.

Well I gave up on merc getting me a brake vacuum pressure sensor, got a used one in the end. Must be a supply chain issue.

Ferodo discs and textar pads went smoothly:

Also fitted a new wheel speed sensor to OSF.

Actually did it twice, the non genuine sensor didn't work! Had to get one from the dealers at 2x the price but it worked...lesson learnt.

Found out why my Radar Blind Spot sensor has failed.

Because it is continuously sprayed with crap off the road.

There is a parking sensor under all that lot too, but they still work.

How can Mercedes not have shielded this! and Look how delicate the plug is on the loom.

On the plus side fitting a towbar is straightforward to these cars, and the plug in wiring loom requires no coding. I fitted a Tow Trust brand from Tow Bars UK £290 delivered for the detachable tow bar and plug in wiring loom. No bumper cuts needed on the AMG styling bumper.

I guess it may need coding to activate stability control towing mode, but I only intend to ever use it for a bike rack or perhaps a camping trailer so nothing heavy like a caravan that would require that.
