I know that some of you are interested (or have significant others interested) in things astronomical (apart from expensive cars!) so this may be of interest...

Comet Holmes (on of the Jupiter group) is on it's regular visit - however, rather than it's usual mag 15 (very dim) it's recently flared up to mag 3 and is visible to the naked eye. The last time it did this was in the year of it's discovery, back in 1892.

It's in amongst Pegasus - so is visible for most of the night although the moon isn't helping much at the moment. Click here for a map.

Bigger telescopes are beginning to see signs of a tail - but binoculars or smaller back-garden scopes will see a fuzzy "star" and maybe a brighter nucleus.
