Name that tool (W202)

My W202 tool kit has a random tool in it.

It is a alloy rod, knurled on one end, with a thread on the other (see pic).

On the assumption it came with the car - what does it do?

If you remove a wheel, screw it in to hang the spare on, and refit the wheel studs, don't forget to remove, and replace last stud before driving on.

Replaces a wheel bolt when you're trying to line one up in the cold, wet and dark.

Screws into place before you put the wheel back on to assist lining it up

Not needed now of course cos they don't give you a spare wheel! And those strange two pronged items??? ---oh a spaa--aann--er how do you switch that on then?
