Hi,

I have just heard from MK that my rust claim on the C43 has been refused.

I had rust in the same place a couple of years ago, it was repaired at Brentford under warranty.

I took the car to Brooklands as i live so near and they service the SClass there as well.
They took photo's and copied the usual paperwork the person i deal with at Broklands phoned me to say they had rejected the claim, he advised me to call MK customer service which i did on Tuesday. Gave them the full story had MB for many years just spent £94,500 on a new Sclass had previous SClass's etc etc the usual see if i could get some goodwill.

They said they would get back to me in 48 hrs which they did not, rang them today to find out what was going on. they have sent me a letter yesterday refusing the claim as they only guarantee the repair for two years.

So i need to send a few letters to the appropriate people has anyone had any correspondence with the MB's bosses? I Have sent a PM to Desilva as he was in contact with MB MK, when i did a search.

Many thanks

I doubt it matters who you address it to, your letter will go through the post room and be dealt with by the appropriate department.

Good luck with the claim

John

Hi Peter,

Just PM'd you

Why PM the contact details (if that is what you did)?

I'm sure others would be grateful of the infomation

They can still get it. They ask, and they find out.

I wouldn't want people spreading my name around the Internet even in a work capacity.

The contact name I've used was shared to me privately, and I've continued that - lost count of the people of shared I have shared it with, but not openly published it. Maybe I'm just old fashioned.

If it was a senior director then did they reply to you personally, or was the letter passed onto the 'private secretary'? ;)

If you feel discretion is required in passing on this name then we should all repect that ;)

It's a great pity that my contact has now moved on asa she was an amazing person that I still remain in contact with and I like to think she is now a very good friend.

This first communication will set the 'ground rules' for all future correspondance :)

John

The contact name I've written to has 'people' to sort this stuff out. ;)

Very pleasant to deal with, and very effective at sorting things out.

As an ex-MB Service Advisor put it: "If someone from XYZ's office calls, things happen quickly".

You will be pleased to know the C43 was dropped off at Brooklands this morning to be taken to MB Brentford's body shop to be repaired.

It seems that the three recorded delivery letters i sent to Milton Keynes did the trick. I have not had an a official reply to my letters from Milton Keynes as yet.

I received a phone call from Brentford saying the work had been approved. I asked about the U turn as the day before i received a letter from Holland rejecting my claim stating it was over two years since the last repair and it was out of warranty. He said he did not know the reason only that had been instructed by the Body shop manager to arrange for the work to be done. I did ask for the manager to contact me to explain, still waiting.

So we have a very nice A Class 180 CDi to run around in while the rust on the corner of the sunroof is being repaired and if they do the job properly this time we won't have to go through this performance again.

Many thanks lads for the information.

The moral of this story is Keep Writing and don't give up.

Glad you finally got it sorted Peter, that is such a nice car.

I'm surprised at a two warranty though there is an independent body shop just round the corner from my work, they give a three year warranty on all body work.

Good result, well done.
