Being totally lost when it comes to things that have wires. Does anyone here know how to connect up my Navman to my radio ? Radio is a Pioneer. There is a socket for an earpiece on the unit, can that be used or, do I go to Maplins and buy a 12v amplifier and hide it under the dash and connect it to a seperate speaker. Reason I ask these questions is that the volume of the unit sometimes gets lost in the music I play :o

Thanks Guys / Gals

I have a similar system and have done a little research into how best this can be achieved. To-date, I have had little success from the tekkies at Compaq or specialist GPS suppliers.

I agree that the sound output level from the PDA/GPS is quite low, and certainly gets drowned when the rest of the ICE is at no more than reasonable listening levels. And I am using Co-Pilot 5 Live which has some innovative software to amplify the speech more than usual  !

I think what you say seems the best way to go. Ideally, the best way would be to connect the output from the earpiece jack directly to a suitable input on the ICE unit (maybe having to use an adaptor). The down side of this is that the normal output from the radio/CD unit will be muted constantly whilst the connection is detected, unless there is a facility on the front to toggle between inputs, i.e. you get one or the other!

If you manage to find an alternative solution, keep us posted.

Regards,

Alex
