Mercedes C32 AMG
Hi guys

This was completed, when Maff (mbclub.co.uk member/admin) first purchased this car, as a new protection detail. But after some serious enjoyment and the damp/greasy roads, it was in need of some desperate attention:

As you can see, it was looking quite dirty indeed, and was going to take a little work to get it back to showroom condition. Now at this point, I would like to point out that white is the most vulnerable when it comes to fallout. White is a breeding ground for sap, acid rain and rail fillings and can cover white paint in black specs. If you have had this problem, this is what they are. Even giving your car a good clean will not remove them without rubbing very hard indeed. Obviously you do not want to do this. This best option to remove all is give the car a chemical bath with iron x. Wash the car in the same two bucket manor, rinse and then apply iron x. This will attack the fallout out the same way tardis removes tar deposits. It will react with the fallout and turn them pink/purple/red. Do not worry this is normal! Leave for 10 minutes, out of direct sunlight and then re wash the car. Once brought in to dry, then clay your car with a mild clay. This will remove all of these marks leaving the car lovely and white. On the mp4, this was no exception. The car was covered from head to foot in black specs, therefore having the same treatment. Hence a chemical bath.

The detail on the mp4, was the following:

-Wheels cleaned with bilberry & iron x with wheel woolies then rinsed.
-Tyres and arches cleaned with megs all purpose cleaner & rinsed.
-All shuts cleaned with megs all purpose cleaner.
-Front of car treated with poorboys bugger, bug remover and rinsed.
-Snow foamed with bilthammer autofoam and rinsed.
-Washed using the two bucket method with dodo juice born to be mild.
-Chemical bath with iron x and left to dwel for 10 minutes.
-Re washed using 2bm & rinsed.
-Dried with a 70/30 towel and warm air blower.
-Clayed with dodo juice gentle grey.
-Full ipa wipedown to remove clay sling and silicone.
-Machine glazed on the g220 with a 3m blue pad and jeff's werstatts acrylic prime strong.
-2 coats of dodo juice engel.
-Engine bay cleaned with megs all purpose cleaner, dried with the warmair blower and dressed with jeffs werstatt acrylic prime strong.
-Wheels protected with swissvax autobahn.
-Tyres dressed with swissvax pneu.
-Exhaust tips dressed with zepperlin final finish.
- All carbon machined with jeffs werstatt acrylice prime strong and protected with engel.
-Interior plastics cleaned with megs all purpose cleaner and dressed with jeff's werstatt matte.
-Leather cleaned with zaino z9 and fed with zaino z10.
-Then given a good vacuum.
-Interior glass cleaned with meg's glass cleaner.
-Exterior glass cleaned with dodo juice supernatural glass polish.
-Final inspection with Jeff's werstatt acrylic spray sealant.

So this was the finished article, enjoy!

Hope you enjoyed and if you have any questions I will be more then happy to help.

Cheers

So I shouldn't buy a white one then :D (I wish)

Looking good.

I was disappointed he didn't have the car in time for the GoodWood track day.

I thought you missed a spot... then I realised my screen needs a detail!
Great work, epic machine.

Need to sort out the condensation in the rear lenses though.

I watched the tv show about the building of one of these and it was surprising how much of the manufacture was contracted out.

Mclaren really are just an assembly plant.

Some car though.

It would have been too much to bite off for such a small/niche OEM.
Even the larger OEM contract out a lot to Tier 1 suppliers. The Nissan plant in Sunderland is a prime example. Often hailed as the most productive plant in the UK/Europe/World whatever, but a lot of what they do is just final assembly.

Just for curiousity, whats the second brake calliper in the 'wheel picture'.... not seen that before???

That would be the caliper to the handbrake I believe.

Interesting.... Not seen that before....

I love all that stitching around the centre console. What a car. :)

A lot to be said for the 'before' look.
I like to see nice cars that are driven.

Ducati are very much like this. Engines are built in house, the rest comes in as sub-assemblies from suppliers (Brembo, Marchesini et al)

ls it just my imagination, or are the panels needing realigned in pic 3?
