need help info for shox fitting

I Loewe Old Skool AMG
I recently bought koni shox for my C43 AMG
K-8041-1315SPORT
K-8041-1316SPORT

fitting instruction manual says, these twintube shox needs to be set in a vise then push in the shock valve rod and turn shock counter clockwise.
is this correct for first time firm adjustment off the car, shox being set in a vise?
maybe they described this info for other SPORT series as a generic adjustment/fitting procedure?
other say, install shox to the car and simply adjust stiffness with adjusting knob.
anyone have experiance with Koni yellow twintubes?

koni 26 series has to be adjusted in a vise for each firm setting

do the shocks come with a knob like this one on the pic??, if so, just install them.

I believe Koni's are white knob's

yes, Sir they come with a whitey knob put ontop of the shock.

this is what they look like, although pics are from shox for a w210 AMG

what springs are you using? oem or aftermarket lowering springs?

Being twin tube, you are meant to stand them upright and compress them to properly distribute the oil.

do i have to put the shock vertical and push down the valve rod into the bottom shock body?
never heard this!
where did you get this info?
koni didn't say anything about this in the manual?

swedish distributor said fit them to your car and be happy?!

i'm getting different intel making me even more confused now:dk:

can you explain further about acclimatising a gas shock damper?
you mean by pushing in the valve rod into shock body to get the oil/gas spread out inside the body?
 
Stand it vertically and compress the strut. It forces the oil into the damper tube from the bottom, instead of it being mixed with gas if it has been lying on it's side or upside-down.

is this a standard procedure for new shox done by mechanics in servicing garages to compress shox before fitting them on the car?

In a word..NO

you dont have to do that procedure with these shocks

By all means do it, it only take 5 mins of your time, but you dont have to.

Fit the shocks, set them to minimum, go for a nice drive, warm up the shocks, play with the valving, have fun.

pick a nice stretch of road and use that same bit of road to test different settings

play with the valving in small stages..that way you can feel when the shocks are over powering the springs.

Dont try to cure body roll by going very firm with the shocks, thats the anti roll bar job.
