sounds like your oxygen sensor is acting up?
if you do hard acceleration from stand still did you hear a bang when transmission shifts into 2nd gear?
The other gears shifts fine?

Try to see if calm upshifts in D-mode works smoother?
Bosh says oxygen sensors are ok up to 100,000 miles then should be replaced, these sensors wears out before 100,000 miles.

what year is your car?
this is not a 2005 C36!

do you have a 4 speed or 5 speed automatic?
if it's a 1997, you might have issues with your tranny coz early 97 cars had the first generation 5 speed electro tranny and this was a weak design.
4 bangers were much tougher!

It’s a 1995 sorry I dident mean to put 2005 so it’s the 4 speed transmission

4 bangers are vacuum controlled, this is a sturdy g-box.
there are 2 oxygen sensors on the V8 it's probably the same for I6?
what is the mileage on your car?
below or over 100,000 miles?
do you know if the o2 sensors has been replaced at any time?

first need to check codes to be sure what the hiccup is?
looks like o2 sensors but we don't know for sure?
when you know what's the problem and if it turns out to be the o2 sensors then check GSF-carparts, eurocarparts or carparts4less for cheap priced Bosch oxygen sensors.
replace both.

or you could maybe have a vacuum leak somewhere giving your car a funky behavior?
check pressure hoses?

Yer I don’t think they have been repalaced but would that be anything to do with the gear change the oxygen sensor ??

you are past overdue the 100,000 miles Bosch warranty.
bad o2 sensors cause weird shifting
