Here's a bunch from Mercedes Grimsby over the road from them, sitting *very* prettily outside the hotel where I'm staying. Tried to avoid seeing mine, but at the front desk this morning at 6:30am or so, talking to one of the staff over his shoulder, through a window, the stood mine . With that, I had to go out and decided to take some pics of my car and all of them, before all Hell (err...Heaven) broke loose !
I've taken pictures of *all* the cars for posterity. Will post them asap for us all to drool over. There's a smart GLS amongst them, never seen one before, it's a monster!
The hotel, Oaklands Hall, has two lines of cars, 16 in all, plus staff Mercedes.

Hi Gr1nch, yes lovely car you've got there, bet you haven't got out of it yet, may take a bit of time to get used to, just wondering what you've done with your current one, did you px it, or is your wife having it? :dk:

Hi Peter,
I'm loving the car, thanks. Having finally got away from the dealer's after a couple of hours is currently with a detailer (Gleaming Car) not far from Laceby, whilst I his drove his car to Louth - not too shabby!

As for my beloved Saab, she regrettably had to be P/X'd as I didn't have space for it anywhere and my wife want too keen on having to cars. She's prefers being a passenger .

You can see the spec via insurance company lookup "RA07 LLO", Vector Anniversary, 180bhp I think. Had done 77k, 37k when I bought it nearly 5 years ago off the 1st owner, fantastic condition and well serviced, new MOT, new Michelin's on the front, nearly new on the back. PX price was £2.5k. If you're interested I can find out what they're intending to do with it or you can call direct, my main context who handles the purchase and exchange was....

The pictures of all the new cars really demonstrate the wonderful wide range of colours available!

Lovely S Class I'm sure you're over the moon with it. Love that black C Class Coupe as well, have my eye on one of those for my next car. What were they all doing parked outside the Hotel? I assume it was a special collection event that MB Grimsby were holding?

Exactly that liamt. The hotel staff weren't overly informed when I asked them about the zoned off car park the night before, saying it was an MB presentation event. Then I get an email in the evening from Luca managing all post-sale stuff for the past 5 months and he said collection was at the hotel. Very late notice! I think they took about 2/3 of the new cars up and the other 1/3 at their dealership over the road. They'd run out of space.

Anyone else who picked up their car today want to share the pics and/or experience?

I picked up my 1989 W126 300SE from my friends yard where I have been keeping it. Does that count?

Experience. Well it fired up on the first hint of the key, after sitting for three+ months and ran beautifully. Drove faultlessly with no codes shown. Oh wait, it doesn't read codes, it just gets on with it and drives without issues.

I think Grimsby MB have created a new experience for carwow purchasing.
Who would have thought 'faceless' internet purchases would culminate with a bit of specialness around a 'grandish' hotel setting with a lot full of new Mercedes, and like minded people to share the experience with. (if discussion and socialising is part of it).

Normally they offer free delivery, or a tank of fuel if you pick up, but if they include the hotel instead, that would be icing on the cake.

Obviously not at your normal travel lodge as that just destroys the ambience :D

The whole experience for me has been excellent. Broadly in 3 parts

* No haggling needed, pre-purchase
Just their lowest price. They are not competing with you, but directly with other participating dealerships for your business. Also even when I had different models or specs as I was fine-tuning what I wanted, they (Zeinab) made it clear to me that was ok, they will happily price up any spec I submit to CarWow. I guess on their systems, that's a couple of button clicks. We only spoke once or twice - my choice - for the final spec check and purchase details when I have them a £500 deposit over the phone to reserve a build slot at their factory (in my car's case Sindelfingen). At that point I knew the entire payment schedule, my car's build date and likely delivery date.

* Purchase to pickup
I can not imagine this was any different than if I'd walked into a distant dealership and bought my car over the table. It's probably better, as they have a ton of experience dealing with non-local buyers. It felt a pleasure for them, even when I was asking all sorts of stuff over email with my designated contract (Luca). At the end of this process I knew my car's actual build date, its VIN, it's ship date, the route it took, the arrival at the dealership, how they were looking after it, a lot of answers about the car, especially security related and advice on a visit to the factory (self-organised, but they can help taking to Mercedes Germany if needs be). All this was absolutely perfect for me.

* Pickup
Zeinab had sent over, at purchase , details of the country hotel over the road where they have a deal, a good one in my book. For £99 you get dinner, bed & breakfast for up to two people, including a £25 pp dinner contribution, so £49 for B&B basically. I booked two nights, bookending the car pickup. It turns out I'm glad I did!
On the late afternoon we arrived a beautiful MB Grimsby branded CLS was was sitting outside the hotel front door, welcoming guests, and they were starting to cordon off the car park (with beer barrels and tape, so a bit ad-hoc!) on both sides that faced the hotel. I thought this was for the new owners staying there. The hotel FOH manager said there was a Mercedes event tomorrow. Having prepared to get down to the dealership for 10am, wondering for months what that would be like (champagne, car reveal, meeting the staff, etc), that evening, the night before the pickup, I got an email from Luca saying all of would be at the hotel. This suited me totally fine as my wife doesn't like a lot of moving about, even though at that point I was past caring for moving myself - I just wanted to get my hands on the car .
As I PX'd my car (it turned out 3 out of the 16 new owners did too), I had gear to transfer and that went smoothly.
The were lots of other small and pleasant details, which I won't bore you with. One the major highlights was meeting Zeinab and Luca after all this time as we'd kind of bonded a bit (especially with Luca over the past 5 months), kind of like with forum members here ! It was great being up very early and seeing all the new cars lined up before anyone else (except Mercedes staff of course), so I took a good look, getting pics etc and then seeing their staff precising everything outside together was fascinating and that would not have been aient At the dealership itself with all the other regular activity. Yes, it was special.

All in all the whole process was very eventful and memorable. I highly recommend it. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I'd definitely go this route again.

Nice event, great car.:D
Pity your P/X didn't make a big dent in the price of the new purchase;) but it was all seamless, you didn't have to sell privately or go down the WBA route.
I know you will enjoy your car, as I did for almost three years before change of work venue and company cars clouded the reason for needing the S Class.
My experience is, that if you are going to drive yourself, then it is the most stress free form of road travel:thumb:

Thanks for your brief review about buying the Car through Carwow. I nearly bought my A Class through Carwow (like you Grimsby gave me a good price). I decided however to go with my local Dealer (MB Sunderland) as it was more convenient for me at the time. Sunderland were also great and gave me a good deal however I noticed they appear to have stopped giving out Carwow deals (certainly did at the time I purchased). When I come to change next year I think i'll definitely consider Grimsby when looking based on your review.

Liam

I forgot to say but there is one big advantage with buying remotely, ie over the internet or phone or email! irrespective of where it is via CarWow or others...That is you do have legal protection and rights that you don't have when ordering inside a dealership. It's the distance selling legislation that kicks in, superceded by the Consumer Contracts Regulations...from Which
