New 300SL (107) Owner

Thought i'd drop in and say hello

I purchased a 1989 R107 300SL at the weekend after much hunting around.

The car is solid black with black leather, been serviced very well throughout it's life but requires a little tidying here and there.

Be great to get some hints and tips as to the known issues with these cars. The body seems in extremely good order, but the hood requires replacement and i'm missing a few of the detail items such as tool kit, MB fire extinguisher etc

Thanks. I thing she's pretty good in this area. Underbody seems all ok with only the front anti-roll bar mounts having ever been welded.

Outer body has just a couple of pin ***** size bubbles on the lower drivers door. Every MOT since new and 21 Mercedes Benz stamps in the book

Very nice. Welcome from another 107 owner.

I just removed mine from its winter lay-up in my garage last night. Started 1st turn of the key and ran fine. Roll on 1st May when it will be taxed again! :bannana:

Looks like a lovely car, although sadly most 107s do have at least some problems with the bodywork, most of it in places you can't see. If you do need any work doing and are anywhere near the Midlands, contact Steve Griffin (in Redditch), who specialises in the R107. Many years with Mercedes as a master tech, now works for himself. That is gorgeous.

When I bought mine, I only wanted Signal Red with Tan leather but the 2nd choice would have been exactly what you have got there. Great choice!
