New 500sec new problems.

Hi Guys,

I recently picked up a 500sec and i have an issue (well more then one but one for now) when i set the timing up to what i think is right (10 btdc with the vac connected ) now to eliminate the possibility of me being a retard looking down at the timing marks i have set it to the 10 mark to the right of the big 0 mark
and then i adjusted the mixture screw till it leans out and stalls then back it up a bit till it idles as smooth as i can make it But when i accelerate it pops and bangs and shoots flames out of the back.

Before Top Dead Centre is to the left of TDC not right AFAIK..

You cannot mess with the idle mixture unless you have access to a gas analyzer... A fraction of a turn can make it shift a fair bit.

see i wasnt sure dude ... looking at it it rotates clockwise so if the pointer was at 12 oclock for it to hit a time each revolution before it hits 12 that would be 1 oclock as it would hit 11 oclock after it hits 12 was my thinking
