saw it last night and got to say it was very good.

Daniel Craig really brings something extra to the role IMHO and is fast becoming a contender for my favourite Bond.

Film has all the usual crash bang wallop action... car chases, plane chases, big set piece stunts and plenty of eye candy.

but ... plot is rapid (other people might say stretched thin) and picks up right after Casino Royale -back references, characters cropping up again and lots of unfinished business.

so top tip - watch CR again on DVD before spending out on new tickets.

double O biscuit...

Cheers

I want to get Casino Royal on Blue ray as I think that will be a good film to watch action packed etc..

Thanks for the heads up

Daniel Craig as Bond we would be better off with Wendy Craig, agree special effects in QoS are good but after this & CR I'm afraid he rates as my worst Bond ever, little pip squeak with a complete charisma bypass according to my missus, thinks she's spot on!

Roger Moore was the worst Bond in my opinion.;)

Full of his own importance and I wouldn't trust him to kill a fly, let alone a villian.:D

I too am not enamoured of Craig as Bond. He comes across as a thug playing a gentleman's game whereas Bond, as we all know, is a gentleman playing a thug's game.

They've gone all out trying to recast Bond in the style of The Bourne Identity, BIG mistake. Bond is witty and sophisticated, something entirely lacking from the Bourne movies, good though they are they are entirely devoid of these crucial elements.

Read the books

Bond is a troubled and un-well individual.

In my opinion, Timothy Dalton actually came nearest to playing him as Fleming would have wanted!

Lets face it though, Bond has been going for 5 decades and each actor brings something new (except George Lazenby!!!)

I like Craig, The moment I saw the Bourne Identity I thought that's what Bond should always have been....and they've gone down that route with these movies.

None of them have been as good as Sean Connery, right up till now.

Daniel Craigs bond is dark and I actually quite like the fact it;s lost a lot of the silly carry on comedy.

Works for me.

I like the Daniel Craig's Bond, the best since Sean Connery. By all accounts, Ian Flemming was an upper-middle-class snob, and hence so was his main character. I don't think that persona is relevant in the 21st century. I haven't seen QoS yet, but I did watch Casino Royale again last night with the Mrs and we both enjoyed it.

I have read the books and I agree with you, Timothy Dalton came far closer than Daniel Craig can ever hope to achieve in portraying the literary Bond. Dark and troubled is not sweating and grimacing.

i'm afraid the out and out "he had to fly" ... "take me round the world one more time James" always left me cold. waaaay to cheesy.

i think the film now are more nuanced than of years past and yet they havn't lost their DNA entirely.

as much as I liked Sean Connery i'm not sure if he was an outstanding actor... Red October and Untouchables are just two examples. I think there is a chance that Daniel Craig will be the best actor ever to lay Bond...but only time will tell that of course.

I'm firmly in the pro Daniel Craig camp and was surprised by posts to the contrary as I've not spoken or heard anyone prior to this thread that wasnt impressed.

Old bond wore cheese flavoured rose tinted spectacles and the movies whilst good in their day, needed to step up a gear if they were to make anything at the box office along side stiff competition like Bourne.

I think the film producers have done a very good job of getting with the times and upping the game without losing all of the tradition surrounding Bond.

As said before they have tried to make Bond Bourne and it doesn't work, both very good in their own right but also having read the books, I'm sure Wendy Craig is nothing like the character Flemming would have wanted

From where I'm sitting Daniel Craig is just perfect for the job    :D

And what job would that be, my own Miss Moneypenny (or should that be Jaws)? :D

A lot of the post Connery Bond films really are not that good at all. And that is being charitable, because a few of them are real dogs.

Whole thing was rapidly becoming a stale franchise and the Craig films are all about kicking some life into what was becoming pretty dire. May be OTT but hey, it is mass entertainment, not arthouse stuff

Watch it Odd Job!! :p :p :p

I've been a Daniel Craig fan since Layer Cake, and I hold hope that the sequel will one day be produced. I liked his Bond in CR, but I'm not a big CGI fan. It's hard to better "Three Days of the Condor" or "Spy Game" for espionage films, but I suppose I'll be seeing...

One man's meat and all that, I think Daniel Craig is wonderful. I like him in the roll....a lot!

Meat ??? seen more meat left on a Zebra after it's been savaged by a pride of Lions :)
