6 weeks later and Mercedes still haven't got all the parts to fix it and have no date for them, was told fixed by 5th December, then 8th January 2015 and then no idea......

I think what pushed me over the edge was an employee at Merc Guildford yesterday saying, "between you and me I think Germany are more interested in getting new vehicles on the road than offering parts to fix old"

OLD!!! 739 miles old

Not impressed :fail

In 1960 I had a brand new Austin Healey Sprite Supercharged that was damaged.
It was off the road all summer, same reason given.
"All parts go to new construction".
Nice to see how things have progressed in55 years.

A real pain in the rear, in more senses than one...

That's just a turn of phrase - I wouldn't dwell on it.

I had a new Capri quite a few yrs ago and promptly crashed it. Parts took months as it was a brand-new model.

Presumably you're in a hire car provided by the LR driver's insurance?

What's the estimated cost of fixing your car?

That will be a proper big bill.

Rear quarter
Tailgate
Bumper
Probably back box
Glass
Lights ( are they led )
Paint
Is the boot floor intact ? Any folds ?

Panels, paint, window, LED light cluster, some sub frame, tyre well, trims etc

£8.5K!!

If you have acquired it on a lease then perhaps MB should suspend the payments whilst it is off the road or extend the lease Free of charge by the amount of time it takes.

Also, if you are keeping it they should really extend the warranty to the same degree as you have not had use of the car.

Reminds me of a chap with a Passat that needed a battery under warranty. He was in a hire car for 4 months while they waited for it...

He was quite happy to do the miles in the hire car, but thought the whole situation was bizarre.

I had one of the first 203s back in 2000. Within 2 weeks the windscreen was smashed by a stone and it needed a new instrument display. Parts took ages to arrive. Seems nothing has changed.
On the other hand I have needed some body parts for the 124 and they were here from Germany the next day.

Haha listen to the drama queens here...........

Its a pretty minor collision and needs a rear 1/4 repair, bumper, rear window, lights fixtures and fittings and paint of course and a little buff up here and there :)

Looks like an oblique glancing blow from the Landie as he swerved left or it would have been more serious if impact was square on :)

I'm more disappointed in the filthy state you got it in and under 1000 miles :)

Yeah, the young lad swerved but not enough

I live in the country where cars get filthy very quickly

Good job nobody was on the footpath.

I wrote my silver sl off this year, it totally opened my eyes to what could have happened.

Yes cars are nice, my hobby and my pride and joy, but it would mean nothing if someone were to be injured as a consequence of me being out in it, fault or not.

The car will get repaired.

Update:

Still not fixed, parts to complete "might be available" by the end of February 2015

Laughable

I've recently bought a C220 Saloon.

The first one I was due to get was in October; a car of *almost* the spec I wanted was available brand new at another dealer so I was told that I could have that one the following week or factory order.

I went for October. By the time it turned up, the glass panel at the front of the panoramic roof had gone missing. They offered repair or to get me the brand new factory order car. I went for the new order.

I've now been in my new car since late December. The car with the missing panel? It's still at the dealer with a missing panel as they cannot get one!!!

Surely go back to the insurance company and apply pressure.. Maybe get a new one out of them or a hire care the same spec?

Car is now fixed, it took 4 months and it had to go back because they hadn't fixed it properly and it also had a recall

Car is now fixed
Good to hear.

Out of interest, what hire car did the insurer provide? Was it like for like?
