Hi everyone,
Just put the deposit down on a new to me C43: coupe, 66 plate, blue with night pack, premium plus. Bought on a bit of impulse, but I was looking at buying a saloon many years ago and already knew the exact spec I wanted and this happened to have everything (hence the impulse purchase) apart from 19” wheels. It’s on the 18” and they look okay, but I feel the car lacks the presence it would have on the 19” and so I’m looking at swapping these out. I don’t know where to start with doing this, I’ll be left with 4 18” wheels and 4 tyres I don’t want and won’t use, and ideally would like to trade mine for the 19” to cover most of the cost of the change. Anyone know of anywhere that does this sort of thing? Most rim sets I’ve seen online are from the C63 and seem to have wider rears, should these be okay to fit - would that cause any problems. And finally are 19” likely to make the ride much harder? I don’t mind a stiff ride, I have a Caterham for the weekend and so anything softer than that feels like I’m driving on clouds anyway.
Have been watching lots of YouTube videos and have seen people launching the car by revving up to about 2k RPM whilst holding your foot on the brake; is this safe on the transmission? I currently have a BMW 435d and this has the launch mode whereby you do this, but even whilst this is an “official” thing, the general advice was don’t do it too much as it’s hard on the transmission and so given that the C43 doesn’t have a launch control per se I wondered whether this is I’ll advised? I’m buying from Merc so has a 2 year warranty but wouldn’t want to be doing anything that isn’t covered by this.
Any other tips/tricks I should be aware of? (I have already ploughed through the forums looking for stuff lol.)
Anyway, thanks in advance and looking forward to being part of the community.
