Shes a 1969 280S LHD and an ex-dipomat car. - Check flag holder aswell!

Huge history, was on royal duty in Jordan for a while, then ending up in the UK in 1981. (All documented in the SH - including orignal owners driving photo IDs!)

She has been bought as a restoration project by my brother and myself, it needs alot of TLC as it is covered in a lot of rust (will need a full respray), engine has a number of leaks etc etc.

We had it fully checked over by our mechanic, she does have many things that need looking at - but in the long term nothing too major.

As time goes on, I will keep a log of its progress :bannana:

Edit: It has an electric push button start

I've always liked that shape, an all time classic. I still want a coupe/convertible of that era, don't see any nicely done up examples around these days.

Great buy by the sounds, they all need a bit of work to bring them up to scratch. Looks a tidy example with plenty of potential.

Cheers!

We have seen her for the past 2 years when driving past, then finally last week it came up for sale.

Its going to be a huge job as we both are total novices at this :)

Haha!

After a Google search it looks like its a W109!

Thanks :)

Mods, please adjust thread title please

Got any money left Karl ? ;)

Nice old skool motor BTW ! are you coming to Bridgewood Manor ?

He will have money left now - but not for much longer....

Actually, the 109/110/111 series were quite well built - but do rot under the arches quite badly. iirc theres a good resource called somthing like w111.net

I will make a GTG one day honest!

Ah I misread the post .....

I thought you meant you'd both chipped in for it , now i realise he bought it and you are helping restore it ...... :)

Gonna put some 20 inch chrome spinners on it ? ;)

Is it not a W108?

Haha - Mods change thread title again please!

Cheers Ray!

I've always loved this type too. My brother almost got close to buying one, probably best that he didn't as he'd only started at Uni at the time. Dad was glad that he didn't buy it!

Must say it looked absolutley gorgeous when he bought it round to show us. The dealer let him borrow it for a couple of hours, so we had a great time cruising around in it, especially as we were only 18 / 19 at the time :D

IIRC the one he looked at was a 280S and had a colum shift automatic gearshift, can't remember the exact age though...

Yeah your right, we have had our eye on it for ages :)

I've passed it loads of times (it's on my commute) - thought about posting a photo/info on here before to see if anybody's interested - glad you came across it too. Good luck with the project - is it staying in Cambs or does your brother live elsewhere?

Yeah its staying in Cambridge, just waiting to get a lock up to house it in.

If you're really struggling to find a lock up in Cambs let me know - there is a house in Burwell that regularly advertises garages to rent (no idea on £) - he has caravans back there too so I am guessing he has the space. Bit of a way out tho.

Cheers for the offer, I think we are fixed up now though :)
