New car x218 with gear shift on steering Column

Hi guys just wondering if there is any safety mechanism in place to prevent you from selecting reverse or park whilst driving? If scared that when I lend car to wife shell forgot its not the wipers stalk? Any advice

There's a previous thread about this , but from memory , as it's fly by wire , it's inoperative above 5mph so quite safe. When I went from a VW to my first column shift I tried to indicate left when doing about 50mph when I realised that the indicator stalk was now on the left , oops , nothing happened.
