C350 cdi
Today I was up at 6.15am to catch the train from Penzance in Cornwall to go and collect our new (to us) 2009 C350 cdi estate from Bristol. We put a deposit down on it last Saturday and have been so excited all week about collecting it. After 4 and a half hours on the train we arrived at the garage, she was parked up all prepared for us looking as good as new, a quick payment and handover and we were off! What an amazing car, it was so worth the wait, the power is immense, on the motorway it's shocking how quick it picks up speed for overtaking.
Anyway I had to share my excitement with you guys, looking forward to being part of your community!

Pics to follow tomorrow!

Congratulations on your new purchase. I love the W204 pre facelift model (which I assume is yours). The V6 diesel is a great engine in the C-Class and its power is just immense. Just make sure you take care of the DPF (diesel particulate filter) especially if you intend to use the car mainly for city stop-start driving.

Yes, mine is a pre facelift, love the design of it. What's the best way to take care of the dpf, my daily journey will be about 30 miles of A/B road driving each day.

I had one of these... It's beastin' ..,

Welcome and enjoy, mine is my first Merc too, just love the C-class, they're great cars.

I had to drive my old/new Focus ST (I'd only had it a year from new) 400 miles to pick mine up, it was well worth the journey.

Cheers.

According to your driving it should be okay but my dad has a 320 Cdi and it's used for city driving. My local MB specialist suggested to put a can of DPF Cleaner into the fuel tank every 2-3 months...its £10 a can at ECP and well worth it... Never had a problem since. There have been numerous diesel DPF owners who have reported various DPF problems and that's the last thing you would like for your car I'm sure :).

The DPF cleans itself through a process called regeneration and manufacturers claim that this can be achieved by driving the car at a certain speed for a certain time etc... but its not certain the DPF will get cleaned even after driving at the stated conditions... Hence the dpf cleaner and good fuel aids DPF regeneration

Also if possible, use premium diesel fuel (Shell V-Power Diesel or BP Ultimate Diesel) since this will aid the DPF to burn the accumulated soot particles/regenerate quicker and will also take care of your engine and most likely give better mpg and engine performance. Its about 10p dearer than normal diesel fuel and if circumstances allow, then its well worth the difference.

Enjoy!
