ohh cool :) i was looking at those , but the lack of xenons put me off. Nice spec tho for the price on those cars :)

the 220 engine is superb. Pulls well and lots of mpg. sitting at 70mph cruise set i was getting 49mpg today over about 40 miles. amazing :)

Thanks, I was hoping I could get Xenons too, as you say it's a shame it's not even an option on the Executive. The options list on the Executive is very very short :-(

try and get at least the 6cd changer on the audio 20 , it will come with the media interface in the glovebox for IPOD , USB and 3.5mm :) its worth the extra money.

Congrats - is your current car a straight 6 or the V6 ? Gather you wont be missing the extra umphhh ...... look forward to seeing the pics ..

Will be interesting to see what you think of the car, as thats the one i've short listed my list to. So any pos or neg comments would be appreciated.
Regards kurt.

ive had a demo model from the dealership i bought the car from for the last 2 weeks. I didnt miss the power of the I6 engine . The 220 CDI on the facelift model actually seems to be quieter and not really as noticable in the cabin as the 320 CDI.

I do however notice the difference in the steering and handling going from the prefacelift to the facelift.

Overall im happier with the Facelift 220cdi than the prefacelift 320cdi. It just feels better :)

Overall the mpg based on 1000 miles i got 36mpg. Doing the same driving in my 320 cdi was returning about 27.

The Executive comes with Comand, including the Hard Disk nav and Linguatronic :D

Was toying between the 6 Disc DVD Changer or the Media interface (or both). Didn't know that the 6 disc changer included the Music interface, bargain if it does...

Other spec on the wish list:

Heated seats, folding dimming mirrors, parktronic.

The linguatronic works really well as does the slot loading dvd changer. The ccomand unit is also good too with the bluetooth functionality being excellent.

The only bad thing on comand that i saw was the SD card slot on the top of the unit only supports 2gb and not SDHC.

The hard drive nav is a revelation over the dvd based one for speed and general map detail. Really really good.

Ive got no real complaints about the car what so ever! i had a very enjoyable time with it. Heated seats and parktronic is a must lol , i wouldnt buy a car without them

I get my new car on Monday, C220 CDi SE, Obs Black. No extras, company car so didnt want to waste money on extras.

Will be giving back my C220 CDi after two years of driving it. Best car I ever had. Only 1 problem, the steering pulled to the left, couldn't be sorted with tracking or balancing, in the end the Merc dealer had to put some bolts on to keep it on line.

Just remembering when I was 18 and I bought a mark II escort. I dreamt of being able to drive a Merc.

Give it to Druk for a few days when you get it and he'll be able to give you some optional extras that aren't available from MB. Don't waste your money on Supagard if the salesman offers it.....biggest waste of money since the Millenium Dome!

Is that all? Crikey, I get 50+ from my C270 cruising at 75!!! At 70, would probably be looking at 55 at least. Mind you, the E is a touch heavier I believe?

Yay, another 220cdi convert. I remember you've had a car with the 270 engine, how does the new 220cdi compare with that?

Hawk20 (and others on the other forum) has the new 220cdi engine and praises it for its refinement, mine is a bit down on power than yours but its only from 0-20mph that its a clatter wagon.

The car you're going for has a significantly lighter engine + a shorter one (I4 vs I6) so there is less mass far forward in the car you're getting, hence its handling will be better.

What happens to the BMW just out of interest?

The difference is that the 270 CDI engine is an EU3 engine and the W211 E220 CDI is an EU4. Big difference.

I see you also have an A180 CDI , thats one of the worst performers MPG wise ive ever driven. Its not very refined and very noisey and kinda low on mpg and torque. I was utterly apauled at the MPG of that! sitting on the motorway cruise set at 70 in that and i was getting 38mpg!! dismal. Is yours any better?

Performance wise , theres nothing between the E220 CDI and the C270 CDI that i had :)

Thats progress for you a I guess...

The E220 CDI is however about a million times more refined than the 270 tho.

You would never be able to tell its a diesel from within the cabin and after about 5 mins warmup from cold the same could be said from the outside too.

Going back to the E320 , the noise was noticably louder from the engine.

I meant its progress as a 2.2 4clyinder performs better than 2.75cylinder in a heavier car.

How does it compare to BMW's 4 clyinder diesel?
