Just to say that I've bought another car

It's a 2001 CLK55 AMG.

Picked it up from Peter from the forum over the weekend. What a journey (500 mile round trip) and what a car The V8 engine note is awesome, and there's plenty of power . Reasonably frugal too, high 20s MPG on the motorway, only a few MPG less than my friend's 230 Kompressor.

Have already made a small shortlist of TLC and fettling, but it's a lovely original car that hasn't been messed about with, and I'm sure that once I've had my teeth stuck into her she'll be even nicer :bannana:

Have given it a good wash to remove the numerous dead flies, and have checked out a few bits and pieces already.

I wasn't overly excited about the colour at first (silver) from the pics I had seen, but it looks fantastic in the flesh with the black leather and the sunroof/Avantgarde blue glass. Pretty stealthy as well

Plenty of gadgets to keep me amused, love the COMAND.

I'll try and take some pics soon (it was raining yesterday) but you've all probably seen a few before and to be honest it looks better in the flesh IMHO

Yep - you were right, but even I didn't know it at the time. Truth is, I was considering so many different cars.

I decided that a V8 AMG just had to be experienced, and was probably about the best time I'd get to do so.

I have to say that Peter was a true gent throughout Totally honest and a pleasure to deal with, which was very welcome considering we live quite far apart

Just need to find time to get a few little bits and pieces sorted out, but I'm very happy overall. Nice to have a car that I can drive as well, I was getting too precious over the 2.5-16.

The V8 growl as she starts in the garage is something else

Haha, didnt take you long to get over the 190E! ive considered 208 55s lots of times, they are a bargain at the moment, especially if i can find a cabrio.

Glad you are still liking the '55 Will! Am pleased it went to a very good home, you will clearly lavish it with the TLC it needs to bring it up to A1 condition.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures and reading the thread on it in the coming months !

I think the replacement vehicle is yet to be decided, I still have a thing for an E60 M5 but may have to wait until the GL contract ends for that.
