New CLK Class????

60% of the coupe is said to be e class, but the chassis is the biggest part.

Until the revelations of c class chassis, i was under full impression that this would be some sort od reincarnation.

In stead you have got a fake!

what does the advertising regulatory body have to say about his kind of "semi" misrepresentation?

Or am i just wrong??

Yes. I love that figure. Sixty per cent of the parts are common to the E class. Well yes, But then so are many of the C class parts these days. Same engines, Gearboxes, radios, etc etc etc.

Interesting question is what percentage of the parts are common to the C class. 70%? 80%?

If you want a coupe with loads of space in the back, CL-class. These guys know how to market their cars! :D

I don't understand all the fuss over the chassis and claims of 'fake' & being misled etc.

Surely the best chassis should be chosen upon its merits, for the car in question, rather than for its name?
How can we as non car designers say that a large chassis(which I presume would need hacking down) in a smaller car is going to give a better feel/performance than a chassis more suited to the cars size?

What makes a car best fit into its particular market sector? The design, level of luxury, quality, ride, level of performance, the standard specification?
Or is it the name on the chassis before all of the thousands of parts are bolted onto it?

Yes, I know the argument about the W124, but that was 20yrs ago & things have changed a little since then!

If still unsure why don't you go to local dealer & try out a CLC, an E-coupe & a CL & then decide on which category the respective cars fit into.
If its such a big deal, then why aren't we all in uproar about the misleading model numbers? Why has my C230K only got a 1.8L & not the older 2.3L, why is the new 350CDi only a 3L petrol & not a 3.5L like the 350CGi is? Are we being misled, or has someone simply decided that is most appropriate, weighing all the factors up? Does it really matter that much?
How about the engines? Should we demand that a unique engine should be used for each of the classes, rather than being shared amongst classes?

How about focusing on all the positives? I have yet to get a test drive myself, but on paper at least the e-coupe seems like a significant step forward with many technical innovations included, as in the e-saloon. The car reviews also seem to be favourable.

I am certainly looking forward to getting a test drive. I will not be worrying about the chassis name, but will assess the car as a whole!
