First service on my fantastic car @ £274 @ 11,000 miles

Then offered a further three year deal which equates to £300 per annum for the next 36,000 miles.

Amazing value when I think that this years ride-on mower service cost me £300 with bits.....

Now I am not stupid to think thats all in terms of cost, but its a great start

What a stunning car this is!!

Go with the 3 year service plan it's a good deal especially when you consider it will cover a major service incl plugs/filters etc,i've saved at least £200 on my 2 year service plan & i don't miss £35 a month as much as i would paying out £850 which the last service would have cost me:thumb:

There's WAY more work involved in servicing a mower. £300 sounds good - many years ago my neighbour paid £250 to have a Suffolk Punch serviced. You could buy a new one at the time for £350.

Car servicing is an oil and filter change, plus a few checks. VW dealer 'serviced' my daughter's year old Golf recently for £68 including parts and VAT. I didn't pay that of course, but they gave me a copy of the invoice then send to VW.

Marc, did the £274 include oil or did you provide that yourself? Is that MB Oxford? Mine will need servicing soon.

My BMW cost me £300 for 5 years. :dk:

Maybe its the magic golden spanner that MB use that costs so much..

OXFORD - They provided everything Richard, along with the usual coffee and some wonderful showroom cars to pass the time in ......

They also did it inside 2 hours whereas Swindon told me they needed the car all day for software updates etc......

Driving to Monaco very soon and really looking forward to the drive ;)

Got mine serviced today for £235! Very happy with that. Got them to price match another dealer who offered a 'lite' service. It's the same actual service but with no loan car so cheaper. The dealer I used who price matched it did loan me a brand new C class so all is good! I think they were happy as it was carried out at the same time as the recall so they could bill MB for the loan car.

Both my CLS and ML cost around £250 for their first service. Seems very reasonable.
However, the ML cost over £600 for the last 'major' service and my BMW 5 series came with free servicing for the 3 years thrown in with the deal.....
You can see which way I'm now leaning...

BMW service them cheaply to allow you to save up for Run flat tyres

Last MB service I was told my front pads were at 80% but my discs were under wear limit and needed replacement. This is the first set of discs/pads. Are all MB discs made of cheese?

I've just had the same thing (well, not 80%, but pads OK, discs worn to minimum thickness) on my daughter's Mitsubishi Colt.

When I queried it they said it was because the pads had been changed once already, but of course they haven't. They then switched tack to saying that the days of 2 sets of pads to 1 disc are gone now and they tend to replaced at the same time. Pah - I remember when discs lasted the life of the car! OK, people died of asbestosis, but we didn't have a problem with too many old people then. :)

I had a look at the discs (couldn't easily see the pads) and sure enough there was chunky lip on them and the spec only allows for 1mm of wear on each side.
