Got a e350cdi coupe. Great car.

But have noticed that windscreen has 8-10 small superficial chips - visible really only when sun out. Only completed 5k miles. Can`t remember any of my prev cars - BMW`s/Lexus - having quite so many so soon.

Could other coupe owners monitor/comment

Could be something to do with aerodynamics/or perhaps the harsh winter.

I'd go for the harsh winter followed by the appalling state of the roads. I have never suffered so much windscreen damage! Luckily it was to my previous car, a Pug 406 and not my current E Class - hope I haven't spoken too soon! :wallbash:

Most of my stonechip 'hits' have been from cars coming in the opposite direction would you believe!!

Glass is glass is glass - all made by the same glass manufacturers (Pilkinton or their French equivalent).

Blame the carp state of our roads this winter (or rather the lack of proper repairs). I've had 2 screens crack so far. I can't remember when I had a screen crack before.

Of course tailgating is also a great way of getting screen rash, but I'm sure you don't do that?

My experience exactly. I can honestly say that the front end of my W204 has collected more stone chips in the last 3 months than it had in the previous 2 years, including several screen chips (one of which required repair) from stones definitely thrown up by vehicles travelling in the opposite direction :(

Not noticed anything on mine, but not surprised as only use the car at weekends or holidays. Living in London my daily commute is the train:mad:
