ordering a new e350 cdi coupe soon and i am wondering how to make this particular engine faster with more power. and no i dont want a e500 or petrol need the decent fuel economy but would like some power also.

since this is the 265bhp variant i havent really found a wealth of info on the tunning of this engine.

has anyone tuned one of these? and if so what figures you pulling with what mods?

obvious ones are re-map, front mounted intercooler and a new down pipe

also anywhere that sells these?

also heard something about fiddling with the turbo?

From a remap i would expect to see about 40 hp and about 80nm of torque.

I dont know of anywhere that does a bolt on front mount or downpipe for this car.

Likewise, I'm on the hunt around for a new front mount but don't know of any places that make one so looks like a custom job.

What can they actually offer?

Just like the Don, your posts are ever more informative...

Looking at their website they offer nothing as when you look under the merc section. Nothing comes up.

Is the front pipe causing a restriction?

Its hard to say as no one has removed one and modified it to do back to back dyno tests.

This is what im looking to do for the new 250cdi engine to offer as a bolt on option. Depending on what sort of figures the dyno produce with modified pipe in.

There's a Brabus tuning box available for your engine, the main dealer will sell you one.

Honestly, I've no idea.

Looking to get the car running a bit cooler so figured DPF delete and bigger front mount but diesel tuning isn't something I'm clued up on so been looking at what the guys over the pond do with their OM642 engines and a few have done DPF & EGR delete and programmed the regen cycle out. I'm all ears though if you've got any suggestions, want to get the EGTs down and extra power would be nice but not a necessity.

And back to tuning the 265ps 350CDI, get a Brabus box from the dealer will make a big difference to the power & torque.

im definitely going to get the downpipe and remap from a custom tuner, so will be able to do back to back dyno graphs to see the difference. ill be happy around 340bhp.
thanks for the input guys

That is definitely where I would start, then add a bit more boost and fueling until the inter-cooler can't take any more air.

I really can't see the down-pipe making any restriction at all. Screw a pressure gauge in as a test.

Im looking into custom inter coolers at the moment so wont be long till we've got our own replacement enhanced version.
That said I've got a German manufacturer ready to ship however costs are not cheap... £1200 and offer a 8% efficiency increase.

Cheers

The 350CDI, was that the one tuned by GAD Tuning?

My C Class ? its a Lake House Tuning build (LH800R), Mapping is still not completed yet.

As for the intercoolers, no they are not on the market in the UK but can be ordered through Lake House Tuning.

Cheers Matt

So it is not being mapped by GAD Tuning? :dk:

If this is the case then someone has cloned your registration.

Haha, no the car has been into GAD before so pictures will be on their website plus they have put up pictures of our big brake upgrade :)

E350 cdi tuning

I have just purchased an E350 CDI estate with 231 bhp and would lke to improve the performance characteristics. Would an engine remap be the best way forward? I've heard of Black Code for example. Any other suggestions for near Sussex? Thanks.

For the 231bhp engine I'd go for a Brabus D6. Power goes to about 272bhp and they work very well.

Does anyone know how much a Brabus box is for the new E350cdi and what the increases would be?
Cheers!

The later Brabus V6 CDi box takes it from 265bhp to 310bhp if my memory serves me correct.
