New key for 2003 CL500

I have just purchased a 2003 CL500.
I only have one key, and wanted to source a second.

1. I gather that secondhand keys cannot be used as they are already assigned to another car VIN, correct ?

2. If I source an unprogrammed key, can I then get this programmed by a local MB dealer with right equipment ?

3. Or do I have to get the new key and programming all done by MB central parts service.

Appreciate your help on this.

General consensus is that a new key is Dealer only programmed, and should cost about £150.

You will need proof of ID and ownership, here is a previous thread on the subject, welcome to the Forum by the way
