New MB owner - poor fuel consumption

hi everyone

i have recently bought a brand new 2013 mercedes benz c class coupe AMG Sport Plus. i saw the car on the garage forecourt and just decided i wanted to buy it over a bmw 3 series and Audi A5. I love the car and I have had it 4 weeks now, however, the fuel consumption is quite poor - i am getting around 29mpg around town. I have spoken to MB and they have advised me that there is a software update available so i have booked the car in - i suppose im gonna have to wait and see.

so i was wondering if other members with the same car are achieving better or worse fuel consumption.

I bought the 250 CDI engine with 7G auto box

I have a 220cdi estate (C Class) on a 60 plate and my computer tells me I've averaged 40.2 mpg over 22k...not sure if that's any help for you?
I've never been that impressed with my fuel figures. On a motorway I may get close to 50 but that's quite rare.
