New Member - 450 SLC

Hi,

I'm Daniel from Northamptonshire. I am new to the site and looking forward to speaking to fellow Mercedes owners!

I've recently purchased a black 1979 Mercedes 450 SLC (I know they're a 'Marmite' car) that I'm looking to get roadworthy as previous owner was going to scrap her!

Some pics of the car 'as collected'...

Since then I've cleaned it a couple of times, paint is very flat. Machine polisher going on (once this rain stops!)

Thanks for your messages - I can't weld, in fact can't do anything mechanical!
My strength is driving and cleaning!

Forgot to mention that I have a complete black leather interior with door cards that will be replacing the velour.
If anyone is looking for a full velour interior, please let me know!

These are the other three pics I have. Nothing under the bonnet, nothing showing the rust on the rear wheel arch and more importantly nothing showing the damage caused by the recovery truck that moved it...

Car slipped on the ramp, got stuck against a brick pillar - 1 new door needed as body shop said un-repairabe!

450SLC was always my favourite when I played TopTrumps as a kid! They're fab. And- I actually quite like the velour interior! The rear seat space is amazing considering it's based on the SL roadster, unlike the modern SECs which are based on S-class.
