Hello all, I have been a silent visitor of this forum for last few months and today, at last, I bought my First Merc Benz C180 Petrol. It only has 50K on the clock and for me it's a huge jump from a 2000 Honda Civic to a Mercedes but it has always been my dream. This is a 2012 facelift model. I think it is W204 but I could be wrong as I am new to all these terms. You guys may see me on this forum quite often now as I will try to extract all the information I can from you pro's :)

I have just configured my bluetooth iphone with the system and made test calls. In the beginning it would not pair and I thought there is an issue with the car's bluetooth system. I started fiddling with the menus and found there was another iphone paired already (must be of previous owner). So, I removed it first and only then it paired with my iphone. I was a bit surprised that system did not give me any hints or errors pointing in direction that there is already a phone paired up but anyways I sorted that out. One thing I would like to ask is how do I clean my back screen while inside the car? there is no wiper there! today it was raining and visibility from back mirror was very low as the water droplets just sat on the screen. I don't know if there are any controls inside which would vaporize the water? it does seem lame that for back screen one has to get down and clean the screen with a cloth before getting into the car?

Welcome to the forum.

Heated rear screen is more for frost / condensation.

I don't think it will have much impact on road.

Every saloon car I've ever had has never had a rear wash wiper - normally only hatches.

Thanks JohnEBoy....So this means before setting off you need to clean the back screen first?

Visibility shouldn't be affected.
All saloon cars do not have rear windscreen wipers.

Unless the rear screen is dusty and rain water makes it mucky, then you need a car wash.

Not had any issues with rain droplets on the rear screen on my C180 for last 6 years nor my C63.

If you struggle to see through it - but even mine covered with rain droplets - it's still fine to see through.

Just give it the once over with a rubber scraper if it troubles you - would only take a moment.

You should find with a saloon that the angle of the screen means it won't be a problem when you are moving.

Indeed when you move off, a lot of the droplets should just run off and clear it anyway.

Ford Orion Saloon - Rear wash/wipe for some reason.

Lol you're not going to be driving around in reverse, so don't worry

On the MK3 - that's why I didn't claim all saloons don't have them because I was sure there was the odd one or two! :D

Although I'm sure it was renamed an Escort by then regardless of boot or hatch.

That's an Escort with a boot. They just left the rear wiper in place.
