Hi - introducing myself as a new member. I've been reading posts on this forum for a few years. The reason I'm joining is first to say "thank you" to everyone here who takes the time to respond to requests for help. Twice this year I've benefited from that help - the Harmon Kardon amp in my S500 went phut and, based on experiences here I had it replaced at Command Online in Lightwater. The strings on the convertible roof on my E53 snapped and following recommendations here I had them fixed at Soft Tops Convertible Repair Specialists in Coventry. I was impressed by the knowledge and friendliness of both of these specialists. I'll be posting more detail on the relevant threads.

Both my wife and I are unrepentant petrol heads and between us have driven a variety of vehicles over the years. Her "Desert Island Discs" luxury is a Land Rover Defender 130 which she has owned since new in 2004. Mine is the W221 S-Class 500L which I bought second-hand earlier this year - I've always liked barges and it was an "itch that had to be scratched". It has, as I had anticipated, been something of a money pit but I'm lucky enough to live within a few miles of a Mercedes specialist. I'm hoping that we've sorted out all the "likely suspects" for the moment at least. And that's the second reason for my signing up here - I now have a little more experience of what can go wrong and I feel I should help if I can.

Hi and welcome 👍

Welcome - that’s a couple of gorgeous cars you have there. I’m a huge fan of the W221 styling - such presence, such refinement, such subtle muscle car looks.

Greetings and welcome to the group - Love the S500 !
Like yourself i am blessed with a specialist a few miles away, and also like yourself i am hopeful that the colander that was my bank account has now stopped leaking cash in the 'correcting' irritating 'things' with the SL500

Hello and welcome , nice choice of motors

Very nice motors you've got there. 🙂👍

Welcome! Love the seats in the E53! My wife's bucket car is a white convertible with red upholstery.

If you ever need another MB Specialist I can recommend here :

Very helpful and with courtesy cars 👍

Thank you @BlackC55 and @DSM10000 for the tips - the specialist that my wife and I both use are pretty good, however there are some jobs they won't handle. For those jobs I have to look elsewhere. For example, they wouldn't do a sunroof service on my S500 - it's something to do with the special grease required by Mercedes for the job. I'm planning, at the moment, to have that done at our local dealership when it's due its next service.

We have the grease in stock. Its expensive stuff.

We do that job for £10 btw.

That is very helpful. I'm about an hour from you. I'll check my list of "things to do on the S-Class" and make it more worthwhile, for both of us :)
I have used Prestige Car Services.

Highly recommended, pleasant, helpful and professional 👍👍
