Car
S65
loads of question.

So this evening I have taken leave of my senses and I’m off to pick up a car which I never considered owning or looking for. But I kind of fell over it and had to have it.

The car in question? An S65 AMG.

like I said I think I’m mad especially seeing as I know it has a few “niggles”
But hay how hard can it be. Let’s see if I can make it the 50 miles home then the questions can begin.

Welcome to the forum Hoppo.
You are a brave man, but should be well rewarded if the car has no major problems.

I think I know the car you bought it is in Birmingham right. I've seen it for a while on Autotrader. I hope you enjoy it and it looks a beast!

Hi & welcome from another new member, what a car! Is it your first merc?

Good call going for a more restrained Merc until you're used to them. Perhaps step up to something quicker later on? :D

Well I made it home.

Torrential rain pitch black roads and a 600bhp car the size of a housing estate on crap rubber made for an interesting trip.

So to answer a few questions. No it's not my first Merc or super saloon. I've had r129s and r230s as well as an 07 e63 which was a disaster (another story)

As for the car it's self it's a 2007 black on black. Not the car from Brum that was mentioned by one of you.

I need to get some time and go through all the toys and gizmos to see what works and what's broke.

But first tyres. In fact I'm not sure the wheels are original. Could be expencive

It's amazing how ordinary this generation of AMGs look, and yet the performance belies that look!

My E55K running at 600BHP never looked anything of the sort but would destroy many things quite easily.

I like the black gloss wood on the steering and dash. Is it black ash or piano black? I have black ash in my CL and I love it now.

I just think the wheels look like castors.

So far bits that don't seem to work

Distronic/ parking sensors says "radar disabled"

Drivers door handle for keyless entry

No audio from the radio

I think it worth getting the fibre optic cable checked out and amplifier. I think the amplifier is located in the boot.

I'd love to hear the story on the E63 sometime.

That's the plan I'm going to get a bypass loop and give it a go. If not I'll have to find a specialist

As for the e63 lovely car but. It developed major problems with in an hour and the dealer refused to sort it out.

So ended in a court battle

I won
