Car
MERCEDES C 270CDI
Not too old - I have just retired, and bought a 54 plate C 270 CDI saloon. (picture 1) I have had it serviced by local Mercedes dealer, for probably the last time, (cost was enough to hide the bill from my wife), and obtained a small list of 'things to do' .
The car is in very good condition, with a genuine 42k , full M/S/H , and drives somewhat quieter now with some proper oil in it.....
Having attended to engine, tryes, (New Contact 3's all round), I have spent out on almost a full set of Dark Burl interior wood to replace the aluminium trim, but having trouble locating 1 piece, - that surounding gear shift and drinks recess, (picture 2).
I have been promising myself this car for years, and I have to say, I am thrilled with it. Having read some of the threads on this website, this is probably the 2nd best thing I have done after purchase of the car.
I hope I can contribute in the months to come as I seek to restore the Merc to rude health.
Forgive me if I have made mistakes in this intro, , I am still navigating my way around. If anyone knows of a source of the missing interior piece, I would be most grateful. Kind regards, arthur.

No wonder the bill was a bit steep, they moved the steering wheel, fitted new interior wood and repaved your drive.

Hello Arthur
Welcome to the Forum :thumb:

Hi and welcome:thumb:

I thought the LHD picture was just to show the missing bit of trim around the gearstick?

Welcome to the forum Arthur ; the car looks very nice .

I guess the car is LHD and not a reversed picture , since looking closely at the instruments they appear to be the right way round ? Like lots of people , I have a LHD car ( as well as several RHD ones ) too .

Is it a wood piece to surround the small display screen above the radio you are looking for ( the only piece that is not wood in your picture ) , or the one that surrounds the gear lever . I know of someone on another forum who recently replaced all the wood on an older car by buying veneer , then cutting , fitting and polishing it himself - this could be an option if you can't source the piece ready made .

The dealer ought to be able to supply a new piece ( at a price ) , or there are a few specialist breakers who might be able to help

Hi Arthur welcome to the forum.

Have you tried getting a discount from your a dealer?

You many need to try salvage yards or merc specialists (Can be found on the forum).

Much Thanks to all who replied, I have more than enough info to go on now - so useful.
The LHD car was simply to illustrate the part I needed. I will post a completed pic of my car once it is has its complete wood interior.
Thank you again , kind regards, arthur.

Cost of Merc dealer service.

No wonder the bill was a bit steep, they moved the steering wheel, fitted new interior wood and repaved your drive.

They made a mess of the Drive.........,
and left the pedals on the RHS
