Car
Mercedes C270 CDi
Hi,

I'm the new boy in class, I picked up my Mercedes last night after winning it on eBay of all places. I'm really chuffed as it seems to be a real bargain at £4000 for a 2002 C270 CDi Avantgarde Auto. I had the usual vehicle checks done and it was all clrear and it seems to be in good mechanical condition with a full Merc service history.

The externior is great, no dents, scratches of curbed alloys, the intervior is a bit grimy in places but nothing a good clean won't sort out.

I'd just like to introduce myself and say, "Hi, I'm Ed" and "I hope I can contribute to the community in a decent way". I've had a number of previous cars, Audi, Jeep, VW and BMW and the BMW had a good community feel but the feeling I get from driving the Merc makes me feel like I've made the right decession.

Here is my car:

Glad to say hello
Ed

Hi there Ed and welcome to the forum.Nice car

Welcome Ed....Glad to see you've crossed over from the darkside...:D:D

You bought that car for four grand ?

Bargain mate , well done .... looks nice .

I'd been watching it and it was relisted, the first time the bidding started for £4K and it had a reserve. There was one bid for 4K and the reserve was not met so it got relisted on a 2 day auction but this time with no reserve (starting again at 4K). I set myself a limit and stuck to it. However nobody else bid so I won on 4K which was the starting price.
I think if it had started at 99p or something it would have gone higher than 4K, people we're put off by the high start price.

I did a vehicle check to make sure it hasn't been stollen, fraud or written off and the millage is correct. It all checked out, saw it, drove it and completed the transaction. The list price in the vehicle report I had done said £7800, not sure if this is accurate though.

How many miles on it ?

144,000, so quite high but I figured on a big deisal engine it wouldn't be a big problem. Drives as tight as the day it left the factory I think. Very smooth, powerfull and refined.

£7800!!! Not even close.... my 52 reg C270 went for £6k in February! £4k is still a good price though - well done!

As a lot of others have said, that looks like a great buy for £4k.

I have also recently joined having come over from the 'other' [BMW] side!

Enjoy!

Yeah I thought £7,800 was unrealistic too. I agree it seems £4000 was a good bargain.

I personally feel most people wouldn't try to by a Merc from eBay for 4K, it just doesn't seem right, but if you go about it in the correct fashion it's no different from buying privatly, just that if you are lucky you do get a good price.

Hi and welcome.

make sure the gearbox oil has been changed. This is very important.

It has a full Mercedes service history at all the right times, so I'm assuming it has been done at the right point.
